ROBIN CROUGH# •O City Clerk C•.,,.•r1$- `rtNco•,.- APPROVED AS TO FORM: GREG SULLIVAN City Attorney South University Area Sewer Main Interceptor and Water Main Extension Project Change Order No. 1 Summary of Work This change order consists of the following items: 1. Bollards for Fire Hydrants This portion of the work adds bollards around 2 fire hydrants as identified in the attached Work Change Directive No. 3. Cost $3,470 Time 0 days Montana State University Sewer and Water Services This item adds connecting water and sewer services to the Miller Pavilion and providing a water service stub for future use. Cost $134,550 Time 21 days 3. Boring — Subcontractor Costs This item addresses a portion of the cost of changes involved with modifying the boring operation for the crossing of South 19th Avenue. A fiber optic cable, which was not located for the design survey, conflicts with the planned boring operation. This conflict has required the contractor to locate the bore pit on the east side of South 19th Avenue rather than the west side of South 19th Avenue. This has caused schedule issues as well as increased difficulties in the boring operation as the area is much more constrained and the boring is going downhill rather than uphill. This item only addresses costs associated with the boring subcontractor for items listed above. The boring subcontractor's direct costs related to cold -weather impacts, if encountered, are not included in these costs. Additional costs of the general contractor are being tracked on a time and material basis and will be included in a subsequent change order. The full impact to contract time has not yet been established and additional time beyond what is included in this change order may be required. Cost $20,000 plus 5% general contractor markup for a total of $21,000. Nickelson Subject: RE: Ag Services James, Your most recent plan makes a lot more sense and saves significant amount of cost. However, I don't see the "common trench" working in any case for the sewer and water. The material is too difficult to shore / excavate to make safe with any significant elevation differences. We will use separate ditches for the entire stretch. Estimate for the proposed Miller work = $129,300 Additional 1" Waterline to Sta. 2+83 (Main Line Ditch only) = $5,250 This is based on DLM being able to utilize existing road base and gravel materials for subbase course. Road top course will be imported. Hopefully, this manages to be within the MSU budget. With the dewatering pumps currently running near this location, it would be ideal to install this soon. Attached is a revised profile. Scope of work includes the following: - Miller water service per original plan (if there is now merit to the common trench idea — from station 2+20 to 2+83 a separate trench will be needed to meet separation requirements) - Miller sewer service — use city detail 02730-3 at point of connection to go up at 45 degrees and then lay at 1% to building - Provide separate price to add 1" water in miller water trench to station 2+83 James James R.
