The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis-
sion Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, March 7, 1962 at 1:00 otclock P.M.
I Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, City Manager
Cutting, City Attorney Berg, Asstt. City Manager Fryslie and the Clerk.
The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the minutes be approved as read and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
Curb Cuts -- Willson Avenue Conoco Service
The City Manager reported a survey of the traffic pattern at the intersection
of Willson Avenue and Olive Street and in the immediate area of the Willson Avenue
Conoco Service Station has indicated an additional curb cut on Willson Avenue
would not materially benefit the station and could create a serious traffic hazard.
It was therefore recommended that the request of the Continental Oil Company for
the additional curb cut in connection with its proposed reconstruction of the
Service Station be denied. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commia-
I sioner Sedivy, that the request for permission to construct the additional curb cut
be denied and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting
No, none.
Reconstruction of Main Street Pavement
A letter received from Lewis Armold, Chairman of the Roads and Highway commit-
tee of the local Chamber of Commerce, was introduced recommending that the City
request the Montana State Highway Department to program the complete reconstruction
of Main Street from South Eighth Avenue eastward to the point where it will connect
with the proposed East Main Street interchange approach from the Interstate Highway
east of Bozeman. The City Manager reported the letter was the result of a meeting
of the committee, City officials and George Barrett, District Engineer for the State
Highway Department, and was based on the understanding the proposed project would
require the City to assume not more than 25~ of the construction cost. It was moved
by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the City Manager be
directed to submit a request to the Montana State Highway Department for the Sl~-
I gested programming and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morl'ow;
those voting No, none.
Reinvestment of SDS Funds -- $26,000
The Director of Finance reported that $26,000 of invested S.D.S. Revenue funds
have matured and requested he be granted authority to again place the funds in the
First National Bank of Bozeman, Montana, on a six months' certificate of deposit.

The City Manager recommended that the reinvestment be approved and it was moved
by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner sedivy, that the reinvestment be
approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those vot-
ing Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those
voting No, none. I
U.S. Chamber of Commerce "Aircade for Citizenship" -- Billings
The City Manager reported that the U.S. Chamber of Connnerce has scheduled its
"Aircade for Citizenship" at Billings, March 15th, and recommended that author-
ization be granted for members of the Commission to attend the program and that,
it being in the public interest, their expenses incurred for travel be paid from
the General Fund. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner
Mor row, that the recommended attendance be approved and the motion was carried by
the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner
Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
Federal Housing Administration Subdivision Clinic -- Helena
It was reported that the Federal Housing Administration's subdivision clinic
is to be held in Helena, March 15th. The Gi ty Manager reconnnended tha t Ci ty Engi-

and that, it being in the public interest, their expenses be paid from the Planning
Board Fund. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, I
that authorization for attendance at the meeting as recommended be approved and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Claims for the Month of February, 1962
Claim No's. 2379 to 2630, inclusive were presented on the various funds as
follows:

The City Manager stated he had audited the claims and found them to be true
and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommended that they be approved
and warrants issued for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail I
and checking against the claim register, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy,
seconded by commissioner Morrow, that all claims be approved and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher,
Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none

The following reports for February, 1962 were presented:

The City Manager stated the reports appeared to be in order and recommended
that they be approved and filed. It was moved by Commissioner sedivy, seconded
by Commissioner Morrow, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting
No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time
it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, tha t the
meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
