HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-03-14 52 Bozeman, Montana March 14, 1962 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, March 14, 1962 at 1:00 o'clock I P.M. Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, City'Manager Cutting, City Attorney Berg, Ass't. City Manager Fryslie and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis- sioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Advertise for Bids for Air Compressor and Accessories Bid specifications prepared by the City Engineer for the purchase of a modern type rotary 125 (cfm) Air Compressor with accessories at an estimated cost of $5,500.00 were placed before the Commission. It was recommended by the City Manager that based on these specifications the City advertise a "Call for Bids" at an early date. It was moved by Commissioner sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the purchase of the compressor and the accessories I be authorized and the Clerk directed to advertise for bids to be opened April 4th, 1962. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none. Candidates for Police Academy -- Mon tana Sta te College It was reported the Montana Police Academy has been scheduled to be held at Montana State College, April lst through the 13th, inclusive, with and Administrative course to follow April 15th thru the 19th. The Bozeman Police Department is allowed to students to attend the two week course and one to attend the administrative course. Police Chief Saunders reported that Patrolmen Robert K. Johnson and Albert B. Krueger have been accepted as candi- dates to attend the two week basic course and Sgt. Ray E. Lavender as a candi- date to the Administrative course and recommended attendance at the academy of the aforementioned police officers be approved. The City Manager concurred in the recommendation and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commis- sioner SediVY, that the attendance at the academy as recommended be approved I and tha t, it being in the public interest, the expenses of the students be charged against the General Fund. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner sedivy; those voting No, none. , 53 Insurance Coverage on City Buildings and Contents -- "Public Ins ti tu tional Property Form" During the Commission meeting of December 20, 1961, the Commission approved the submission of an application for a proposed new program for fire insurance I coverage for city owned buildings and their contents, known as the "Public Insti- tutional Property Form". G. C. Waite, Ed Heidel and Clyde Simpson, represent- ing the Bozeman Insurance Association appeared before the Commission and stated the application had been approved subject to approval of the attached table of values by the City. The Commission, City officials and the group discussed , the plan at length. Briefly, it was explained the new plan would offer the City approximately 80 per cent more coverage for an approximate increase of 10 per cent of premium cost, and the coverage would be computed on replacement cost of the buildings and the depreciated value of the contents. A schedule setting forth the distributed amounts of the coverage to be shared by members of the Bozeman Insurance Association was placed before the Commission by G. C. Waite. I Reports for February, 1962 The following February, 1962, reports were presented: Water Collector Director of Public Service After commenting on the reports, the City Manager recommended that they be approved. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Appo in tmen t -- Irving Street (Library Custodian) City Manager Cutting announced his appointment of Irving Street as Library custodian to fill the vacancy created by the death of Oscar A. Richter. It was moved by Commissioner SediVY, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the appoint- ment be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
