The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis-
sion Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, April 4, 1962 at l:UO o'clock P.M.
I Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, City
Manager Cutting, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis-
sioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the minutes be approved as
read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those
voting No, none.
Purchase of Air Compressor
This was the time and place set for opening bids for the purchase of an air
compressor for use by the water department of the City. The affidavit of publi-
cation of the "Call for Bids" was presented. It was moved by Commissioner
Morrow, seconded by Commissioner sediVY, that the bids be opened and read and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; thos e vo ting
No, none.

At the request of the City Mana~er, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy,
seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that to allow time for study of the specifications
of the various units, e tc . , final awardin~ of the contract be delayed until the
next re~ular mBeting of the Commission, A pr:i.l 11, 1962, and that the bids be turned
over to the City Engineer for final tabulation. The motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor dtaudaher, Commissioner
Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
Purchase of Used Truck -- Cemetery and Park ~epartment
It was reported that the Cemetery and Park Vepartment has need for an addi-
I tional pickup truck and an offer has been made to sell to the City a used 1958,
t ton Dodge for $995.00. The City Manager stated reliable information indicated
the truck to be in better than average mechanical condi tion and reques ted tha t
purchase of the truck be authorized by the Commission. It was moved by Commissioner
Morrow, seconded by Commissioner .:)edlvy, that purchase of the t~lck for $905.00

Reque s t -- Obliterate Sewage Lagoons North of City Limits
Allen D. Aksamit appeared before the Commission and stated he is constructing
a trailer court on a portion of the land lying north of the G1 ty limi ts and sou th
of the present site of the City's landfill dump. He requested the City to obli- I
terate the old sewage lagoons north of his proposed court. The City Manager
informed Mr. Aksamit the City is using all excess fill material it has to fill
the lagoons, but it would not be possible to name a specific future date for the
completion of the project.
Copper Pipe -- Purchase
The City Manager reported that tho Water Department has need for an addi-
tional supply of copper pipe in sizes from 3/4 to 2 inch and requested authority
to place an order for pipe in the amount of $925.00. It was moved by Commis-
sioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the City Manager be author-
ized to purcl-iase the copper pipe in the sizes and approximate amount as requested.
The. motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting
No, none..
Water Meters -- Purchase
The City Manager reported that the Water Department has need for an additional I
supply of water meters and requested authority to plRee an order for 35, "3/4"
inch meters at a total approximate cost of $95U.UU. It was moved by Commissioner
Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Manager be authorized to
purchase the meters and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:

DAV Forget-Me-Not Sale -- April y( 1962
A request from the local chapter of Disabled American veterans to stage
its Forget-Me-Not sale on Saturday, April 21st, was read. It was moved by Commis-
sioner SediVY, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that permission be granted as
requested and the motion was carried b~y the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow;
those voting No, none.
Request --- MSC Rodeo Club Parade, 2:00 p.m., April, 1962
A request from the MSC Rodeo Club for permission to stage a parade from
Bogart Grove to West Main Street and thence westerly to the High School at I
2:00 o'clock p.m., Saturday, April 21st, was presented. It was moved by Commis-
sioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that permission be granted and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting
No, none..

License and Permit Bond -- Harrington's Home Appliances
The Electrician's License and Permit bond of Harrington's Home Appliances
in the amount of $5,000.00, issued for the period ending March 27, 1963, and
written by the Western Surety Company as surety to the City of Bozeman was pre-
I sen ted. ThE' ins trument was approved as to form by the City Attorney, and it was
moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the bond be
accepted and filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner
Morrow; those voting No, none.
Authority to Travel -- Pacific North-West Recreation and Parks Conference
The written request of Thurman Cloninger, Director of Parks, and A. Glen
White, Director of Recreation, to attend a joint conference of the National
Recreation Association and the International North-West Parks Association at
Vancouver, British Columbia, April 29 th to May 2nd, 1962, was presented. The
City Manager recommended that their attendance be approved and that, it being
in the public interest, their travel expenses to attend the meeting be paid from
appropriate City funds. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commis-
sioner Sedivy, that attendance at the conference as recommended by approved and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those vo ting
I No, none.
Jaycees Flag Posting -- Brackets on Parking Meter Posts
Jack Labrie and Leonard Malbe of the local Jaycees appeared to again discuss
the plans of the club for displaying American flags on Main Street, on appropriate
dates, by attaching the brackets holding the staffs to the parking meter posts.
Mr. Labrie reported on the progress of the canvass of the local merchants, and
the Commission requested the Jaycees to display a model of the bracket and flag
on the meter post near the City Hall for a period of one week and, also, check
the matter of liability coverage in the event of accidents resulting from the
plan. No further action was taken on the matter.

The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended that they be
approved. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow,

The City Manager stated he had audited the claims and found them to be true
and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommended that they be approved
and warrants issued for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail
and checking against the claim register, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow,
seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that all claims be approved and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher,
Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this I
time it was moved by Commiss':cmer Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that.
