The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis-
sion Room. City Hall Building. Wednesday. Deoember 27, 1961 at l:UO o'clock P.M.
Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Cutting, City
Attorney Berg and the Clerk. I
The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Sedivy, seconded by Mayor Swanson. that the minutes be approved as read and the
motion was oarried by the fOllowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Swanson and Commissioner SediVY; those voting No, none.
Disability Retirement -- Tim Reardon, Ass't. Fire Chief
A communication from Fire Chief Penttila was read stating that Tim Reardon.
Asa't. Fire Chief. after nineteen years of service in the City Fire Department has.
at his request and under the provisions of Section 11-1926.R.C.M.. 1947, been
placed on the inactive list under a disability retirement status effective January
1. 1962 by the Fireman's Relief Association. The City Manager commented on
!~. Reardon's commendable and faithful service and stated that an appropriate
expression of regret for the termination of his employment would be directed to
Mr. Reardon at a later date.
Appointments -- Fire Department

The City Manager stated that in order to fill the vacancy in the Fire
Department to be created due to the retirement of Ass't. Fire Chief Reardon he
had, under the provisions of Section 11-1802, R.C.M.. i947, and in concurrence
w:tth Fire Chief Pentti1a's reconnnendatlons, nominated Captain Jack Huber to be
appointed Assistant Fire Chief for a probationary term of six months beginning
January 1. 1862. and, also. announced the promotions of Lieutenant Allen Embry
to the rank of Captain and Fireman Charles Masten to the rank of Lieutenant
effective January 1. 1962. It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner
Sedivy, that the aforementioned appointment of Jaok Huber as Assistant Fire Chief
as recommended and other promotions announced by the City Manager be approved. The
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No. none.
Purohase -- Traffic Lite Cable
It was reported the t in maki.ng tne instaLla tion of the traffic llgh ts a t the
intersection of Grand Avenue and Main Street. it is neoessary to purchase 1200
feet of traffic lite cable at an approximate cost of $975.00. It was moved by I
CommiSSioner Sedivy, seconded by Mayor Swanson, tha t the City Manage r be gran ted
autnority to complete the purChase and the ~otion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Sedivy;
those voting No, none.
