SUBJECT: Appointment to the Fire Code Board of Appeals

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint one member to the Fire Code
Board of Appeals with an updated term ending December 31, 2019.
BACKGROUND: The Fire Code Board of Appeals has three terms that expired on
December 31, 2016, one vacant term that expires on December 31, 2017, and one vacant term
that expires on December 31, 2018. One applicant has re-applied.
The Fire Code Board of Appeals was created under Ordinance No. 144, Chapter 15.37
on August18, 1997 to determine the suitability of alternate materials and types of
construction under the Uniform Fire Code and to provide reasonable interpretation of the
Uniform Fire Code, as adopted by the City of Bozeman.
The Board shall consist of five members to be appointed by the City Commission.
Members of this board shall be qualified by experience and training to pass upon
pertinent matters. Members shall be appointed to staggered three-year terms. Each
member may be reappointed without any limitation on the number of reappointments.
The Fire Chief, or his designee, shall be an ex- officio member and shall act as secretary
of the board.
This board has Two vacant terms and Three expired terms with One member
re-applying.
