SUBJECT: Appointment to the Building Board of Appeals
MEETING DATE: January 30, 2017

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint one member to the Building Board of
Appeals with an updated term ending December 31, 2019.
BACKGROUND: The Building Board of Appeals has two vacant terms that expire on
December 31, 2018 and one term that expired on December 31, 2016. One member has re-
applied. The Board of Appeals only meets as needed.
The Board of Appeals was established under Commission Resolution No. 2483, adopted October
3, 1983 to determine the suitability of alternate materials and methods of construction and to
provide reasonable interpretation of the following codes of the City of Bozeman: Building Code,
Electrical Code, Mechanical Code, and Plumbing Code.
The Board of Appeals shall consist of five members appointed by the City Commission and
serving without compensation, which are qualified by experience and training to pass upon
matters pertaining to building construction. The Building Official shall be an ex officio member
and shall act as Secretary of the Board. Appointments are for a period of three years.
This board has Two vacant terms and One expired term with One member reapplying.
