HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-02-01 480 Bozc~man, l'iIontana 1 February 1967 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, 1 February 1967, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr, Ass't City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Mayor Sedivy opened the meeting with a prayer and the foilllowing proceedings were I had: Minutes of the regular session held Wednesday, 25 January 1967, were read and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the minutes be approved as corrected and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Authorization for City il)[anager to Attend Lep~islature Committee Hearing - HB No.. 445: It was reported that a hearing before the Legislature Committee is to be held in Helena, Montana, on Wednesday, 2 February 1967, on HB No. 445 wliich is a bill initiated from Bozeman to provide for inter-local agency agreements to embark upon cooperative ventures, It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the City Manager be authorized to attend the hearing and, it being in the public intepest the expenses be paid from the General fund, and that the Assistant City Manager be designated as Acting City Manager during the absence of the City Manager and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Comnissioner Lan:Tohr Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. (~ , Authority to Call Bids to purchase 2-1/2 ton Dump Truck: Water Department - Estimate $4,500.00 Bid Opening - 2$ February 1967: It was reported that the Water Department has need for a new 2-1/2 ton dump truck and it being a budget item the Ass't City Manager requested authority to issue a call for bids for purchase of the 2-1/2 ton dump truck in the approximate amount of $4,500.00 I with no trade-in, bids to be opened 1 March 1967. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the purchase of the dump truck be approved and the Clerk of the Commission be directed to issue a "call for bids" for the purchase and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting no, none. Continuation Certific<'ltes - PI umber &, Gas Fitter License Bonds - Georp:e Norman. Bel,grade: In compliance with Chapter -16 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the certificate for plumbing and gas fitter license bonds of George Norman, Belgrade, were presented. The Ass't. City Manager stated the Building Inspector had recommended the approval of the bonds, and the certificates had been approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the aforementioned bonds be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting no, none. Authority to purchase Calculator - Enp:ineerirw...peRt. Aprox. $650.00 Misel. Funds: The Ass't City Manager reported that it would be desirable to purchase a new calculator for the Engineering Department in the approximate amount of $ 650.00. In concurrence with the recommendation of the Ass't City Manager, it was moved by Com- missioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the purchase of the calculator be authorized and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vmte: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those I voting no, none. Mayor's Proclamation of Month of February 1967 as American History Month: Mayor Edmund P. Sedivy issued a proclamati~n designating the month of February as American History Month in accordance with the official designationas such by Act of the United States Congress, and signed by the President of the United States on 6 January 1967. In commemoration of this historic month, the National Society has established the new NSDAR American History Scholarship to be awarded annually to a student majoring in American History. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the Mayor's proclamation be endorsed and the motion was earr~ed by the following Aye and tlS1 No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting no, none. Semi Final Payment to Diteman Construction Company on Utility Contract: The Certificate of the Engineer of Thomas, Dean & Hoskins and Associates on Special Improvement District No's. 468, 469, 471, 472, 473 and 474 stating the con- I struction of the utilities has been practically completed with the exception of some small minor items and cleanup work by the Diteman Construction Company, and recom- mending that the ordinary 10% withheld be reduced to two percent was presented. The Assistant City Manager concurred in the recommendation of the Engineer and recommended that Semi- final payment in the amount of $19,888.36 be made. It was moved by Com- missioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the semi-final payment be aDDroved and acceDted and the Director of Finance be directed to issue warrants in ,I, I .L payment of same and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Cownissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting no, none. Reports for December ( Cont' d. ) : The follOWing reports were presented: Cemetery Fire Chief (1966) The Fire Chief reported on the 1966 Annual Report of the Fire Chief and the Ass't City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting no, none. Chamber of Comm(;rce Bus Committee: Mr. Gardner P. Waite, Mr. Fred Staudaher and Mr. Louis Spain, Jr. representing I the Chamber of Commerce Bus Committee and Mr. Guy Sperry, Manager of the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Commission to discuss consideration of operation of the City Bus Line by the City. The current arrangement and contracts for oper'<J.tion oC the City Bus Line will expire 1 October 1967. The Mayor thanked the Chamber of CO!1lmerce Bus Committee for bringing this to the attention of the Commission and advised that they would take it under advisexent. Authoriza~ion for City Commission, City Manager and Ass't. City Manager - Attend Legislature Meeting: It \Vas moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by COr1!1lissioner Morrow, that th(~ City Commission, the City Manager and the Ass't City Manager be authorized to attend a hearing of the Legislative Committees to be held in Irelena, Montana, on Friday, 3 February 1967, and, it being in the public interest the expenses be paid from the General fund and that the City Engineer be designated as Acting City Manager during the absence and the motion was carried by the follOWing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting no, none.
