RECOMMENDATION: Approve and authorize City Manager to sign the Professional Services
Agreement with Sanderson Stewart.
BACKGROUND: Attached is a copy of the partially executed Professional Services
Agreement with Sanderson Stewart for the Kagy Boulevard Interim Improvements Project. The
document is in the City’s standard format.
Sanderson Stewart is under contract with the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) to
design the Kagy Boulevard improvements. Since the ultimate buildout of the corridor has
delayed indefinitely, the decision has been made to implement interim improvements. This
project was presented and approved in the Streets Impact Fee CIP last month. MDT cannot use
urban funds to participate financially in the design or construction of the interim improvements.
We must therefore contract for the engineering design and construction services ourselves.
Sanderson Stewart was selected competitively for the Kagy project by MDT. The City was
represented on the selection committee. They have already completed much of work on the
ultimate Kagy buildout. Having them design and manage construction for the interim
improvements is certainly the most efficient and cost effective.
UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission
FISCAL EFFECTS: $49,862.00 from the Street Impact Fee Fund.
