The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building. Wednesday, 6 April 1966. at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Sedivy. Commissioner
Langohr, City Manager Cutting, Ass't City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session held 30 March 1966, were read" and it was moved by Comm-
issioner Langohr. seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy;
those voting No, none.
Absence of Commissioner Morrow:
In concurrence with the recommendation of The City Manager, it was moved by Mayor Sedivy,
seconded by Cpmmissioner Langohr, that the absence of Commissioner Morrow be authorized in compliance
with Section 2.08-060 of the Bozeman Municipal Code. The motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No. none.
Authority to purchase 1\" Crushed gravel - Watex Department, approximately $850.00:
The Water Department has reported a need for 500 cubic yards of l~. crushed gravel in the appro-
ximate amount of $850.00. In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved
by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the purchase of the crushed gravel in the
approximate amount of $850.00 be approved, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Authority to purchase 14~'1 Cast Iron Water Valve for Water Department - Approximately $650.00.
It was reported that the Water Department has need for a 14" Cast Iron Water valve in the
approximate amount of $650.00. The Commission concurred in the recommendation of The City Manager,
and it was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr. that the purchase be authorized
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy
and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
Authority to re-invest Miscellaneous funds $200,000.00 Certificates of Deposit (30 Days.)
It was reported that the Director of Finance had requested authority to invest Miscellaneous
funds in the amount of $200,000.00 for thirty days in Certificates of Deposit.
It being in the public interest, The City Manager concurred with the request of the Director
Finance and recommended authority to reinvest the above funds for thirty days in Certificates of
Deposit be granted. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the rein-
vestment as requested be authorized. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
J. C. Request - Hold Easter Egg Hunt at Cooper Park, 1 to 5:00 o'clock p.m. Sunday 4 April 1966:
A letter from the Bozeman Jaycees requesting permission to stage the Annual Jaycee Easter Egg
hunt in Cooper Park, Sunday, 10 April 1966, was presented. It was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded
by Commissioner Langohr. that the request be granted and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those Voting No, none.

12, 1966, was presented. The City Manager recommended that the Commission adopt the resolution, and
it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the resolution be passed and

adopted and May 4, 1966, be set as the date for public hearing, and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those
voting No; none.
Request for sanitary sewer SID for Strozzi Subdivision:
The request of Mr. & Mrs. J. D. Strozzi of the Jo-Mar Trailer Court that the City initiate
proceedings to extend sanitary sewer lines to serve the Strozzi Subdivision from West Babcock Street
was presented. In concurrence with the recommendation of The City Manager, it was moved by Mayor
Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the request be approved and theCity Attorney be pro-
vided with the necessary data and instructed to prepare a resolution of intention to create a
Special Improvement District to accomplish the construction. The motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
Report on AWWA Conven tion, Mis soula - 30 March and 1-2 April 1966: City Engineer (A\-lard 0 f Med t)
Safety Record Bozeman Water Department) Host City 1969:
City Engineer Roman C. Fargo reported on his attendance and that of the Water Superintendent
Ralph Dunahoo and Sewage Disposal plant Operator Carl H. Larson, Jr., at the American Water Works
Association Conference and the Water Pollution Control Conference held in Missoula March 30th thru

April 2nd. His report consisted of a complete resume of the programs, technical materials presented,
its attendance and value derived by the City Representatives and the City at the meeting. He also
stated that the City of Bozeman was selected to host the AWWA convention in 1969. The City Manager
explained that Roman Fargo, Ralph Dunahoo and Carl H. Larson served on a panel for discussion of
operational problems of sewage disposal plants, and also that the Bozeman Water Department was the
recipient of a merit award for its safety record for the year 1964. It was moved by Commissioner
Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that Mr. Fargo be highly commended for the completeness of his
report and that the Water Department also be commended for establishing the safety record that
gained the significant merit award, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
H. W. VanHoose - Representing Carl Weissman & Sons: Permission to purchase property.
Mr. H. W. VanHoose representing Carl Weissman & Sons appeared before the Commission to request
authorizationro establish that firms enterprise in the north one-half of Block 100, Northern Pacific
Addition to the City of Bozeman fronting on Cottonwood Street between Ida and Plum Avenue and to
construct a retail and wholesale store and storage yard on these premises. After discussing the above
request, it was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the request be tabled

for a week of study and inspection of the proposed property, and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those
voting No, none.

The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by

The City Manager commented on the claims and found them to be true and lawful claims against
the City of Bozeman and recommended that they be approved and the Director of Finance be directed
to issue warrants in payment. After examination of the claims in detail and checking against the
claim register, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the claims be
approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Comm-
issioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.

There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried
