HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-10-06 249 Boz eman, M:m tana 6 October - lS!65 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Gommis sion Room, City Hall Building, .W"ednesday, 6 October 1965, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr, Gi ty Mana ger Cu t ting, I Ass't City Manager ~ryslle, Acting Ci ty A ttorney Angel and the Clerk. Mayor Morrow opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session held Wednesday, 29 September 1965, were read and it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Mayor Mo rrow, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vo te : those voting Aye being rlayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner La.ngohr; those vo tine; No, none. Sidewalks on South Willson Avenue "Petition to :olace aga~nst curbs." Dr. Merrill G. Burlingame of 1419 South Willson Avenue and Dr. William A. hunt of 1430 South Willson Avenue appeared before the Commission to discuss a petition requesting permission to loca te the sidewalks adjacent to the street curb in tha t area. Letters from other interested citizens of that area indicating approval of the reque s t to locate the sidewalk in front of their property adjacent to the street curb were also presen ted. After due consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the action be delayed on the above I request for further study and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thos e voting A ye be! ng Mayor Morrow, Commlss loner Sedi vy and Commi.ssioner Langohr ; those voting No, none. Application for remodelin'7' permit - "Litle Bll1lding" - 7th Avenue and Babcock Street Application for a remodeling permit on tile Li tIe Building a t the corner of 7th Avenue and West Babcock Street was presented to the Oi ty Commiss:!. on for review. Attending the meeting was Jack Stover, Secretary of the L & J Land & Livestock Com- pany who explained to the Commission that his Company has leased the Litle building, and propose to open a beer ta vern wi th food servi ce and danc ing. Mr. Stover also stated that Lucas Ballock of Billings is President of the Corporation and that they had already obtained a State Beer License. A discussion was held in regard to the applica tion for remodeling permit of the Litle Building during which Mr. Stover was told that disorders at the subject location would not be permitted. In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Iangohr, seconded by Commissl.oner Sedivy, tha t the permi t for remodeling be granted and the Building Inspector be instruc ted to issue same and I the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those vo ting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those vo ting No, none. Thompson's Fourth Addition - Flat: Mr. Herbert I. Thompson and Mr. Arnold Cayser appeared to discuss with the Ci ty Commission their proposed plat for Thompson's Fourth Addition ro the City of bozeman. Following the discussion, it was suggested to Mr. Thompson and Mr. Cayser tha t the , plat be completed in accordance with the request of the bozeman City-County Planning 250 Board and upon completion, submitted to the City Commission for final consideration. Resohltion No. 1243 - Special tax levy for sidewalks and curbs. (1965) Resolution No. 1243 assessing cost of repair, replacement or construction of s idewalk:;l and curbs for the year 1965 in the amoun t of $4,711.73 was pre sen ted, entitled COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1243 I \ A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION or THE CITY OF BOZEMAN LEVYING AND ASSESSIN G A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON CERTAIN PROPERTIES IN rflfr~ CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATP,:, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND INSTALLING AND/OR RE}) AIRING MISCELL- ANEOUS SIDEWALKS AND CURBS DURING THE YEAR 1965. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the resolution be provisionally passed and adopted and October 13, 1965, be set as the date for public hearing and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissloner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 1244 - Annexation of Gallatin County Rest Home property into City. As directed by the Co~rmission action during its regular session held May 26, 1965, the City Attorney has prepared proposed Commission Resolution No. 1244 to annex the Gallatin County Rest Home into the City, entitled: COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1244 A RESO LUTION OF 'I'HE COMMISS ION OF TUE CITY OF BOZEMAN DECLAHING IT TO BE TO THE BEST INTEREST OF T HE CITY OF BCZEMAN AND THE INHABITANTS THEREOF AND OF THE INHABIT- ANTS OF A TRACT OF LAND C8NTIGUOUS TO THE SAID CITY OF I BOZEMAN AND IffiREIN MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED TO EXTEND THE BOUNDARIES OF THE SAID CITY OF EO ZEMAN SO A S TO IN- CI",UDE THE SAID CONTIGUOUS TRACT WITHIN THE CORPORATE LI }fiI TS THERE OF . The Bozeman Kiwanis Club fancake Breakfast - Sa turday October l6, 1965. A request from the Dozeman Kiwanis Club to hold their annual Kiwanis pancake feed, to be held on ,ja turda y, October 16, 1965, at the Legion Hall, and to sell tickets on Main ,jtreet bn October 15, 1965 was lresented. The proceeds are to be used to built'l a shelter at BOQ'arts Grove. The IJi ty Commission approved having the Grand Lodge of Mon tana Masons conduct the public ceremony of 1a ying the "Corner Stone" for Boz eman' s new Munic ipal Building and also reviewed and approved the contributions that had been submitted to be placed in the sealed copper box within the corner stone as follows: 1.
