The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission
Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, 20 October 1965, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present
were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langobr, City Manager Cutting,
I Asstt City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
Mayor Morrow opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings
were had:
Minutes of the last regular session held Wednesday, 13 October 1965, were read
and it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the
minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commis sioner Sedivy a nd Commissioner
Lang ohr ; those vo ting No, none.
Thompson's Fourth Addition - Plat
The fina 1 pIa t of the Thompson's Fourth Addition was presented to the Commission-
for further action. In discussing the plat with Mr. Herbert I. Thompson, it was sug-
gested that the plat be approved subject to several corrections and alterations. In
concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissione
Langohr , seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the plat be approved contingent
upon corrections and additions as noted by the City Engineer and the reoommendation
of the Bozeman City-County Planning Board and the City Manager be authorized and
I directed to sign the plat as director of Public Servioe, and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and NO vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commis s ioner
Sedivy and Commissioner Langobr; those voting NO, none.
Petition for Paving & Storm Draina e: Thompson's Third Addi tion - Sou th Trao Ave.
Hill treet and Highland ourt.
A letter from Thompson's Hereford Ranohes, Inc. , reque stIng the orea tion of two

Special Improvement Dis tricts for the in-proving of the property on Sou th Tracy Ave-
nue, Hill Street to Third Avenue and Highland Court in Thompson's Addition No.3
was presented for oonsideration of the request for pa ving and storm drainage on those
streets, The City Manager recommended that the City A ttorne y be instructed to pre-
pare a resolution of intention to create the distriot based upon information to be
furnished by the City Engineer. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by
Commissioner Langohr, that the foregoing action as recommended by the City Manager
be a pproved and ini tia ted. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr;
those voting No, none.
Petition for Street Lighting: (a) Maple Terrace Subdivision (b) North 18th Avenue
I -
A petition to create a Special Improvemen t Dis trict for street lighting to
serve an area including the Frank Hoey's Maple Terrace Subdivision and for the Gene
Graf, Jr. development on North 18th Avenue was presented. The ~ity Manager recommended
that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution or resolutions of in-
ten ti on to create these districts based upon information to be furnished by the City
Engineer and the Montana power Company, ~ th the Maple Terrace Subdivision to be
underground oonduit system as requested by Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hoey and the Graf Develop-
ment to be an overhead system if so approved by the F.H.A. It was moved by Commissioner

by the City Manager be approved and initiated and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy
and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
Request for paving on South 4th Ave., at Garfield street. I
A letter received from Mrs. Marjorie R. Huffine, Treasurer of t he Sigma Beta
Chapter of Chi. Omega, requesting paving on 4th Avenue adjacent to the Chi Omega
Sorority House was received and reviewed by the Commission.
After discus sing the proposed request, The City Manager recommended the request
be tabled for further study and that a letter of acknowledgement be sent Mrs. Huffine.
Kenneth R. Richardson - 1020 S. Grand Avenue - Street crossing.
Mr. Kenneth R. Richardson of 1020 S. Grand Avenue appeared before the Commission
to inquire in regard to the cross wa lks on Main Street a nd North Seventh as to when
the street lights would be completed and also seek informa tion on the no-left turns.
Mr. Richardson was informed that every precaution is being taken to protect the
pedestrians crossing streets until all street work is completed and all efforts will
be continued in this respect.
Change Order No. 2 - S. I. D. No. 441 "Sand for parkinp; area north of the High School."
The change order on S.l.D. No. 441 prepared by Harold Hoskins and Associates to
become a part of the original contract for construction of improvements in the pro-
ject described was presented as follows: I
SID No. 441 - A spread of crushed fine aggrega te blotter on SID No. 441
parking lot to eliminate areas when peneprime application
ponded and did not penetrate the base course.
The co st for hauling, spreading and rOllini the crushed
fine aggregate on the ponded area wi 11 be 5.00 per ton.
It will take an estimated 10 tons of aggregate to complete
the spreading.
The City Manager concurred with the Engineer and recommended the change order
be accepted and approved as presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded
by Commissloner Langohr, tha t the change order be approved and tha t the Mayor and
the Clerk of the Commission be authorized to sign for the City a nd the mo tion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow,
Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
Montana State University - Homecoming Parade & Bozeman's new Main Street
ribbon-cutting ceremony.
A request from the Montana State University to stage its annual Homecoming
Parade Saturday, 23 October 1965, at 10:00 o'clock a.m. was presented. The Parade
will begin at Buttery's and proceed east on Main Street to Rouse Avenue and will
be halted at Tracy Avenue for a brief ceremony about 10:20 o'clock a.m. and for I
Mrs. R. Harry Morrow, wife of Bozeman's Mayor, to cut the large gold ribbon which
will officia lly open Bozeman's new Main Street which has been comple tely recon-
s true ted for the first tine since the original pavement which was laid in 1915.
It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, tha t the
above request be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner

Open Bids: Shelving & Furniture for Municipal Building
This was the time and place as advertised to open the bids for the shelving
and furniture for the New Municipal Building. Affidavit of the "Notice of Call
I for Bids" was presen ted and it was moved by Commis sioner Sedivy, seconded by Comm-
is sioner Langohr, tha t the bids be opened as follows:
Charles Brunning Company - Helena, Montana
Empire Offic e Machines - Bozeman, Mon tana
Gallatin Valley Furniture - Bozeman, Montana
Gilskey's Office Supplies - Boz eman, Montana
Phillips Book Store - Bozeman, Montana
Vaughan's - Bozeman, Montana
In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by
Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that all bids received be
referred to the Architects and the Ass't City Manager for study and recommendation
at the next regular session of the Commission and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Mor row, Commissioner Sed-
ivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission, it was moved
