Promotion of l"ireman Rod~ey Roys to Lieutenant - effective 1 March, 1965 The 01 ty Manager informed the Commission tha t ne had concurred in the recomm- endation of the Fire Chief and approved the appointment of Fireman Rodney Roys to Lieutenan t, effecti va 1 March, 1965. It was moved by Commissiomr Langohr, sec- onded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the promotion of Flrerran Rodney Rays to Lieutenant be approved and the motion was carrie. by the folloWing Aye andNo vote: those votmg Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; thos e vo ting No, none. Author1 t The Director of Finance reported there are Cemetary ~ermanent Care Funds in I tne amount of $LO,OUO.uu and Police Reserve Funds in the amount of $5,ouU.UO avail- able for investment and requested authorization to invest the furds available III U.S. Treasury bonds to mature in 1974. Petition for naming Park on South Tracy presented Ralph Aaker and Douglas Drysdale reyresenting the A.D.A. Coryoratlon and Interes ted pa rties of the University Subdivislon presented a petition to the Vity Commi ssi on pro pos ing the n a1lJ9 of tM park in this area to be designated as Langohr Park. ~hey stated the Langohrs had been infLuential in City affairs, as weil as the park a rea for I1Bn y ye ars . Mayor Morrow tmnked Mr. Aaker and Mr. Drysdale for this fine civic gesture and 'rhe Oi ty Manager reoommended me pe ti tion be a.cknowLedged by 'Cbe Commission and referred to the Park Recreation BOl:!.rd for their consideration am recommendation I in regard to naming the proposed p~rk. Glen White) A letter dated 3 March, i965, from the Boaeman Park Recrea tion Board making - .113 reoommendation to the City Commission as a reauJ. t of Board Meetings held on January 27, 1965, and February 24, 1965, was presented. It was then moved by Mayor Morrow, tba t the development plan for the park area in West Park Manor be approved as presen1td. The Park Recreation Board also informed the Commission that the Northwest District Recreation and Park Conference is to be held in Seattle, tlnd recommended that Board I Chairman - John 1-'arke r, Park Superintendent - ~hurman Cloninger and Recreation Director - A. Glen White to be authorized to attend. In concurrence with the recanmendat:lon of 'lihe City Mars ger, it was moved by Commissioner ~ediVY, seconlid by Commies ioner Langmr tha t the requested authorization to a ttend the meeting be granted and, it being in 't~ public interest, their expenses be paid fran the appropriate City funds. Action on the follow~ recommendations of the Recreation Board were deferred for consideration when the new budget is formulated for the 1965-1966 fiscal period. WHEREAS, Nels on (Son) Story 11;11 an outstanding citizen and member of Boz81&n I s leading family, was on 1 March, 1965, taKen from us by God's will, and WHEREAS, Nelson Story III has been a most active participant inthe affairs of this City, County and State and has rendered military service 1;0 his Country beyond the ca.Ll of duty ani to the impairment of his health.
