HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-03-24 129 , March 24, 1965 Bozeman, Montana The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, 24 March 1965, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Langohr, City Manager Cutting, Ass'v City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. I Mayor Morrow opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session held March 17, 1965, were read and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Morrow, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. Absence of Commissioner Sedivy: It was reported that Commissioner Sedivy's absence from the meeting was due to the necessity of his accompanying the Montana State College Band on a tour as its Band Director. In compliance with Secion 2.08.060 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, it was moved by Mayor Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that Commissioner Sedivy's absence be authorized and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. "White Cane" Fund Drive - Lioness Club. Saturday, 1 May 19?2. A request from the Bozeman Lioness Club for permission to conduct a "White Cane Sale" in the business district on Saturday, 1 May 1965 was presented. It was I reported that the proceeds from tljis sale will go to the school for the blind. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Morrow, that permission ~~ - to conduct the sale as requested be granted, and the motion was carried by the ~ following Aye and No vote: those vding Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. "Plumbing" In.compliance with Chapter 16, of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the certi- ficates to continue the plumbing and gas fitter bonds of Frank J. Trunk & Son, Bozeman, was presented. The City Manager stated the Building Inspector had approved the continuation of the bonds and the certificates were approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by Ma~or Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the continuation of the aforementioned bonds be approved and the motion was car~ied by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. License Bond: Paul Schmittou, dba Pauls Electric Co., Bi11inf,~ - "Electrtcal" --.".- I In compliance with Chapter 16 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the Electrical bond of Paul Schmittou, Billings, was presented. The City Manager stated the Building Inspector-had recommended the approval of the bond and the City Attorney had approved the bond as to form. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Morrow, that the bond be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. t3(} St2jiUS RE?J?or..:Ll? I'''''~'----"'- A discussion was held in regard to information that the State Highway Department had cancelled their entire 24 March 1965 bid opening for the con- struction of state highway projects, including Bozeman's Main Street and North q I Seventh Avenue project, Special Improvement District No. 452. This action was reported necessary due to Bureau of Public Roads refusal to clear the projects pending a clarification of recently passed legislation taxing out-of-state The Highway Department hopes for this clarification prior to April .' contractors. 7, 1965, so that the highway program in Montana will not be more seriously delayed. Mr. Everett A. Thiess representing Piper, Jaffray & Hopwood and the Security Bank & Trust Company was present at the meeting and informed the Commission his Company agreed to hold over their bid for the S.I.D. No. 452 bonds at least thru the month of April. Authority to~rchase: Cem_~tary Lowerinp; Device & Placer; -approxima.-tely $9.00~00 It was reported that at recent meetings of the Cemetery Board, the critical need for a new and additional lowering device and placer at the Cemetery had been thoroughly d~scussed and it was recommended by the Cemetery Board, that a new lowering device and placer be purchased. It was also reported that the two local funeral parlors had each agreed to contribute toward the purchase, $1.00 per each adult service for a period of five years. In concurrence with the recommendation I of the Cemetery Board, the City Manager requested authority to purchase the lowering device and placerin the approximate amount of $900.00. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Morrow, that the purchase of the lowering device and placer be authorized as recommended and the offer of the local funeral parlors as reported be accepted. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
