Hi Chris/Chuck:
I have a call that is going to keep me out of the parking commission meeting this morning – at least for
the first hour. I wanted to confirm to you both that I have a meeting with Ed Meece next week. In
addition to meeting Ed, I will provide to him an update of the armory project. We are still awaiting
formal close on our financing but are expecting this within the next few weeks. When I connect with Ed I
will update him on this and if the timing is right, provide notice to him about taking over the westside
parking lot for construction staging.
I wanted to also mention as I am going to miss public comment at the meeting this morning, that I am
eager to learn more about the pricing policy approach and in particular, the costs associated with
managing parking, both currently and under the “true cost of ideal operations” scenarios. In reviewing
past minutes, I just haven’t found any detailed analysis of operating costs associated with parking
broken out among the various areas of focus (i.e., downtown, university, etc.). Given the focus on
establishing rates based upon operating costs as one of only a few primary drivers to pricing
adjustments, having a detailed analysis about operating costs would be edifying. Chris, maybe you and I
can spend a few extra minutes after the TIF board meeting and discuss this? You may have this
information.
In any case, sorry to be missing the meeting. I was very interested in staying current on the discussion as
it occurred but I’ve sprouted some business needs that will keep me away.
Thanks to you both.
Best,
Cory T. Lawrence
