HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-01-14 453 Bozeman, Montana 14 January 1970 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 14 January 1970, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Langohr, Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. I Mayor Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular session held 7 January 1970, were read and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Lanoghr, those voting No, none. Proclamation - "Jaycee Week" 18-24 January, 1970: The Junior Chamber of Commerce asked that Mayor Langohr proclaim the week of 18-24 January, 1970, as "Junior Chamber of Commerce" week. In concurrence with their wishes, Mayor Langohr reported that he had issued the requested proclamation urging all citizens of our Community to give full consideration to the future services of the Bozeman Jaycees. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the Mayor's proclamation be approved and endorsed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Zoning Map for Certification: At the Commission Meeting held on 7 January, 1970, the City Commission considered and rejected I the proposed zoning map and instructed the City Manager to have anew map updated and prepared. The Zoning Map having been updated and prepared was presented to the Commission for their Consider- ation and signature. Following a discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the new Zoning Map be adopted and the Mayor and the Commissioners affix their signature certifying the same and that it be recorded and filed with the Clerk and Recorder of Gallatin County and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Comm- issioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohrj those voting No, none. Sign Bond - Robert A. Taylor: In compliance with Chapter 14 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the sign bond of Robert A. Taylor, Bozeman, MOntana, was presented. The City Manager stated the Building Inspector had re- commended approval of the above mentioned bond and the City Attorney had approved the bond as to form. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the bond he app- roved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commiss- ioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. ~pplication for Police Training Grant - $1,667.89: I Application for grant under the State of Montana Governor's Crime Control Commission from No. c-l in the amount of $1,667.89 for the purpose of Education and Training of Montana Law Enforcement Academy Schools was presented. A limited discussion followed and the Commission con- curred in the recommendation of the City Manager and Chief of Police that they favorably considered the submission of the application and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the submission of the application be approved and the Commission he authorized and directed to sign the application for the City of Bozeman and the motion was carried by the follow- ing ~5L\ ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Lsngohrj those voting No, none. Reports for December: The following reports were presented for December: Director of Public Service Chief of Police I Cashier The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Comm- issioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Langohrj those voting No, none. Vacation for City Manager, 18-24 January, 1970: The City Manager requested that he be granted vacation leave of absence from 18-24 January, 1970, inclusive and that the Ass't. City Manager be designated to perform the duties of the City Manager during that time. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the request be granted and that Ass't. City Manager Robert F. Keyes be desi8nated as Acting City Manager during this period and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Utility Easement - Over and Across City Park Land in the New Hyalite View Subdivision: A right of way Utility Easement for underground utilities over and across City Park Land and adjoining all of the lots in the New Hyalite View Subdivision was presented. Following a thorough discussion, the Commission concurred with the recommendation of the City Manager and it was moved I by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow"that the Easement be entered into and the Mayor and Clerk of the Commission be authorized and directed to sign the Easement for the City and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No votej those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Langohrj those voting No, none. Tribute to Simpson Family - Letter of Condolence: It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Commiss- ion officially note the death of Wesley A. Simpson and that an appropriate letter of condolence be addressed to Fireman Kenneth Simpson and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: Those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none.
