The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal
Building, 29 October, 1969, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy,
Commissioner Langohr, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
Mayor Morrowopened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the regular session held 22 October, 1969, were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as corrected and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commiss-
loner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none.
Consideration of Fire EnRine Bids:
The Commission was referred to the opening of bids for the purchase of one I,OOO G.P.M. Triple
Combination Fire Engine for use by the Fire Department. The bids having been studied in detail by
the Fire Chief and the engineers, it was found that the bid of Superior Fire Apparatus for their
Deluxe Diesel at a figure of $36,042.03 would be in the best interests of the City there being only
a difference of $145.50 between their standard and deluxe model and the bid on their deluxe diesel
being lower than the lowest bid submitted by either of the two other bidders and equaling or exceed-
ing the specifications as contained in the "Call for Bids".
Following a thorough discussion, the Commission concurred with the recommendation of the Fire
Chief and the City Attorney, also concurred in by the City Manager, and it was moved by Commissioner
Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the bid of Superior Fire Apparatus for their Deluxe
Diesel at a cost of $36,042.03 be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those
voting No, none.
Christian Res~ to Hunger - Janet Rasmussen and Carol Anderson:
Janet Rasmussen and Carol Anderson representing the Christian Response to Hunger were present to
request permission' to conduct a fund drive 2l-27 November to raise money to be sent overseas to the
needy. Following a thorough discussion, the City Commission recommended that Janet Rasmussen and
Carol Anderson contact the Local Crop Chairman and discuss this project with them.
Land Trade Proposal - American Legion Post No. 14:
A letter received from Jack Huber, Commander of the American Legion Gallatin Post No. 14, Dept-
of Montana, in regard to the presently proposed site for the American Legion HOUSing, requesting the
City to consider a land trade between the City and the Legion, exchanging City of Bozeman property
known as North Grand Ball Field for a parcel of land between Eighth Avenue extension and the alley
on the west between Villard and Durston Road was presented.
Following a thorough discussion of the Land Trade Proposal, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr,
seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that a letter be addressed to the American Legion, Gallatin Post
No. 14, acknowledging receipt of their proposal. The proposal is to be taken under advisement with
the instruction that City Attorney Berg prepare a legal opinion as to the ability of the City Comm-
ission to entertain such a proposal and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none.

proclamation 'Youth Appreciation Week' lO-16 November, 1969:
Mayor Morrow announced his proclamation designating 10-16 November, 1969, 'Youth Appreciation
Week' in Bozeman and urged every adult to stop and think of the many "plus" qualities to be found
in the vast majority of today's younger generation and to actively recognize both the individual
and collective groupings our citizens which age alone classifies as YOUTH. It was moved by Comm-

issioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the Mayor's proclamation be endorsed and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy,
Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none.
Report of Annual Water pollution Control Federal Conference - Carl Larson:
Carl Larson appeared before the Commission to report on the Water pollution Control Feder-
ation Conference held in Dallas, Texas, 5-10 October, 1969. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr,
seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that Carl Larson be commended on the completeness of his report
and the acceptance thereof and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none.
Examinat~.'?n of Depository Bonis:
In compliance with the provisions of Section 16-2618, R.C.M., 1947, the City Commission pro=
ceeded to examine the receipts of Depository Bonds and Securities held by the Director of Finance
as security for City funds deposited in Bozeman banks. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, se-
conded by Commissioner Langohr, that the securities be approved and a list thereof be set forth in
full in the minutes of the meeting and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting

Provisions of Section 16-2618 R.C.M., 1947, have this day examined the receipts of the Federal
Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, the Northwestern National Bank of Minneapolis, the Marquette Nat-
ional Bank of Minneapolis, and the National Bank of Commerce of Seattle, for the Depository
Bonds held by the Director of Finance as security for the deposit for the City of Bozeman funds
by the several banks of Bozeman and find them to be as above stated, are hereby accepted and
approved.

A surety bond in the amount of $2,500.00 as required by Ordinance No. 875, written by United
States Fidelity and Guaranty Company for Thomas I. Sabo, Police Judge, for the City of Bozeman and

approved 8S to form by the City Attorney was presented together with Mr. Sabo's oath of office.
It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the bond be approved
as presented and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow: those voting No, none.
