HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-10-15 422 Bozeman, Montana 15 October 1969 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, Wednesday, 15 October, 1969, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr, Acting City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular meeting held 8 October, 1969, were read and it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Consideration of Bids Lease of Police Vehicles: The Commission was referred to the opening of bids on the leasing of three sedans and one sta- tion wagon to be used by the ~ice Department. The bids having been analyzed, the Acting City Manager concurred with the City Engineer and the Chief of Police, recommending that the lease of the Police vehicles be awarded to Rolfe & Wood, Inc" for a term of one year, on the basis of their bid in the amount of $139.00 per month for each vehicle, their bid being the lowest bid and equaling or exceeding the specifications as contained in the "Call for Bids," The Commission concurred in the recommendation and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the subject Automobile Lease Agreement be entered into and that the Mayor and the Clerk of the Comm-- ission be authorized to sign the Agreement for the City and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Consideration of Bids - Paving of West Garfield Street - Montana State University: The City Engineer and the engineer representing consultant Thomas, Dean and Hoskins, Inc., having completed their study of the bids submitted for the construction of street improvements on West Gar- field Street, from the married students housing to 19th Avenue and having prepared a final tabulation of the bids found that the unit price was far in excess of current unit prices and recommended the bid proposal be rejected and new bids be received at another date. Following a thorough discussion, the Commission concurred with the recommendation of the engineers and the Director of the Division of physical Plant of Montana State University also concurred in by the Acting City Manager, and it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the low proposal submitted being in excess of the engineer's estimate by 22 percent, the bid proposals be rejected and new bids be received and the motion was carried by_the.following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Authority to Attend Water & Waste Water Plant Operators School - MSU l7-2l Nov. - Dunahoo, Strang Larson, Shields and Fargo: The annual school for Water and Waste Water Plant Operators and Managers will be held at Montana State University, l7-21 November, 1969, and in concurrence with the recommendation of the Acting City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the City Engineer Disposal Plant Operator, Water Superintendent and two other members of the Water Department be authorized to attend the school on 17-21 November, and, it being in the public interest, their expenses be paid from the appropriate fund and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting, No, none. I I I I I I Authority to purchase 60 3/4" Water Meters - Approximately $2,100.00: The Water Department has need for an additional supply of 3/4 inch water meters and requested authority to purchase sixty water meters at an approximate cost of $2,100.OO. It was moved by Comm- issioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the purchase be authorized and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commiss- ioner Sedivy and Mayor MorroW; those voting No, none. Electrical Bond - Paul Schmittou, D.B.A., Paul's Electric: In compliance with Chapter 15 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the Certificate for the Electrical Bond of Paul Schmittou, D.B.A. Paul's Electric, Billings, Montana, was presented. The Acting City Manager stated the Building Inspector had recommended the approval of the bond which has been approved as to form by the City Attorney and it was aoved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the aforementioned bond be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Reports for September - continued: The following reports were presented for September: Director of Public Service Water Collec tor The Acting City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commission- er Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Adjodrnment: There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Comm- issioner Sedivy and Mayor MorroW; those voting No, none.
