The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday, 7 May 1969, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner
Langohr, City Manager Fryslie, Assist. City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had:

In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner
Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the absence of Mayor Morrow be authorzied in com-
pliance with Section 11-3245, R.C.M., 1947, and that Commissioner Sedivy be designated to act as
President Pro Tempore of the Commission and the motion was carried by the following Aye and N" vote:
those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Minutes of Meeting 30 April 1969:
Minutes of the regular session held 30 April 1969 were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Comm-
issioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Authority to Call f()r Rids for 50,000 Ibs. Sodium Silica Fluoyide - hlat~.E._pept. Bid Ope_nin~t~Lunc~:
The City Manager reported the Water Department has need to replenish its supply of Sodium Silico
Fluoride for use as an additive to the City's water supply and requested that the purchase of
50,000 Ibs be authorized. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr,
that the purchase as requested be authorized and the Clerk of the Commission be directed to issue
a "Call for Bids" for the purchase of 50,000 1bs. sodium sUico fluoride, to be opened
4 June
1969 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commiss-
ioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.

The Eighty-ninth Annual Meeting of the National American Water Works Association is scheduled
to be held in San Diego, California, 12-23 May 1969, and the City Manager recommended that the City
Engineer. Mr. Roman C. Fargo, be authorized to attend the meeting. It was moved by Commissioner
Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that it being in the public interest, the City Engineer
be authorized to attend the conference and his expenses be paid out of the Water fund and the motion
was carried by the Following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and COmm-
issioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.

A letter received from Ralph C. Challender, Secretary-Treasurer of the Bozeman Municipal Band
reporting that the City Municipal Band had selected Mr. Mike Roberty as Director of the Bank for the
1969 season, the term covering a period of one year ending in April 1970, was presented. Following
a discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the
Commission approve the election of Mike Roberty as Band Director and that they also approve the
concert schedule as outlined in the letter and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.

A letter received from Bob Salesbury Chairman of the Montana State University Greek Week
Bicycle Race Committee requesting permission to conduct a bicycle race on Saturday, 10 May 1969,
at 9:00 a.m. was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy,
that permission for holding the bicycle race along the route as described be granted and that the
Police Department be advised of any change in plans so that proper protection can be provided the
bicycle riders and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Commissioner Langohr and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.

Commissioner Sedivy, acting as Mayor issued a proclamation designating the month of Mayas
"Mental Health Month" and urged all citjzens to help the mentally ill by working together with the
local Mental Health Association for improved care and treatment of mental hospital patients for the
prevention and early treatment of ~ental disorders and to support the Gallatin County Mental Health
Association. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the
proclamation as requested by the local Health Associ.ation Publicity Director be approved and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr
and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.

The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by

Commissioner Sedivy, acting as Mayor, announced his proclamation of 10 May 1969 as "Fire
Service Recognition Day" in the City of Bozeman and urged all citizens of our community to join in
honoring our Fire Department who are charged with the protection of life and property and visit
the Fire Station during Open House from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m., Saturday, 10 May 1969, It
was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the proclamation as re-
quested be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being COITmlissioner Langohr and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.

Commissioner Sedivy, acting as Mayor, announced his proclamation of 11-17 May 1969, as
"National Public Works Week" and urged all citizens and civic organizations to acquaint themselves
with the problems involved in providing public w0rks facilities and services and to recognize the
important role in the safety, health and well-being that is played by the public works officials
in our community. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the
Acting Mayor's proclamation be endorsed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:

by Commissioner Sedivy, that this proclamation of the Acting Mayor be endorsed and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Commiss-
ioner Sedivy;: those voting No, none.

The City Manager commented on the claims and found them to be true and lawful claims against
the City of Bozeman and recommended they be approved and the Director of Finance be directed to issue
warrants in payment. After examination of the claims and checking against the claim register, it
was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the claims be approved
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner
Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
