Message: Dear Commissioners: I am very glad that you five are representing me and governing
our city. I think you are doing a fantastic job. I am a high school teacher living in Bozeman, MT.
I have three young boys. I am a moderate who voted for Bush twice and O’bama twice. My vote
is up for grabs. I am writing today to encourage you to continue to take a moderate path when
governing. In particular, I hope you can do the following three things: • Work to end the hateful,
divisive politics and scapegoating of minorities. This includes warning folks about fake news
containing outright lies. o There have been several outbursts of bullying hate speech in our town
since President Trump’s election. • Fight hard to stop right wing ideologues from ruining our
state. Remember, the Democrat actually won the most votes for President. • Support transgender
and LGBT individuals.
(Here is the second half of my message. I just submitted the first half a minute ago.) ...The last is
very important to me as my niece is transgender. I am worried that there is a lot of false
information about this issue, as typified by a recent Breitbart news article, “National Geographic
Celebrates Transgender Child on January Cover.” This article is full of lies. Commissioners, I
implore you, do not be persuaded by powerful individuals like Mr. Bannon and Mr. Pence
concerning their misguided, extreme, unscientific views on transgender and LGBT issues. Please
talks to folks in our community who live with these issues if you wish to learn more. Thank you
