To Whom It May Concern,
Enclosed is a letter from a 5th grade student at Longfellow Elementary School in Bozeman,
Montana. My student has spent a great deal of time and effort writing, editing and revising this
persuasive letter. In the end, my student requested I send the letter on their behalf to you for
consideration.
If possible, it would be awesome if you and/or your organization were able to respond to this
writer. I'm hoping to help create citizens that not only know how to write persuasively, but are
empowered to take action when faced with a concern or problem in the community.
Thank you, .

Dear Bozeman City Council,
Iave you ever been late to work with your kids screaming in the back of the car?Have

you ever pulled out into a busy highway and almost been hit? If so,then you would agree the
City of Bozeman needs to put a stop light at the intersection of Kagy and Sourdough. A light is
necessary because it would make the intersection safer, faster, and it would prevent road rage.

First, having a stop light at Kagy and Sourdough would make the intersection much safer.
One time on my way to school there was a big wreck. There is a big hill and the sun is almost y
always shining. but when it's not,it's dark and that is even harder to see the cars coming over the
hill. Also, people are driving down the hill really fast. So, when you are stopped at the stop sign,
it is really dangerous to pull out onto Kagy. A light would prevent more accidents from
happening.
Secondly, a stoplight at Kagy and Sourdough would make the intersection be much more 3
efficient. My family and I always get stuck at Kagy. Sometimes we have to wait over 5 minutes
before we can get onto Kagy because there's a line of cars behind us at the stop sign. If there was
a light, there wouldn't be so much traffic there backed up. Everyone would have an equal turn go
on their way .
Finally, there should be a stop light at Kagy and Sourdough would prevent road rage.
There would be less people cutting people off. I've seen someone get out of a car and get really.
mad at another driver. The man was yelling and screaming at the driver. I hear cars honking at
each other. Having a light put in would make everything and everyone a lot more peaceful.

Yes,the stop tight would cost money, but it would save lives. One person's life is worth
way more than the cost of a light.
It is obvious that Bozeman needs to put a stop light at Kagy and Sourdough. No one
wants to be late to work or get in a wreck. Please take my suggestions into consideration. Do it to
save a life!
