HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-03-05 I I I Bozeman, Montana 5 March 1969 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday,S March 1969, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular session held 26 February 1969 were read and it was moved by Commissioner sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Request to Hold Circus Performance - 16 July 1969 - Montana State University Fieldhouse: The request from Mr. Bud Purdy, Fieldhouse Manager of Montana State University for permission to obtain the proper forms to hold Hubert Castles Three Ring Circus in the Montana State University Fieldhouse for two performances Wednesday, 16 July 1969, was again presented for consideration. After conferring with the two organizations who have sponsored circuses or carnivals in the past, but are no longer interested in doing so, the City Manager recommended that the request of Mr. Purdy be granted as presented. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the subject request be approved with the instructions that this circus be fully licensed in the total amount of $220.00 in compliance with the provisions of Chapter 3.04.080 of the Bozeman Muni- cipal Code and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Authority to Purchase Copper Tubing - 3/4" 1800 feet - Approximately $975.00: The City Manager reported that it would be desirable to replenish the City's stock of Copper tubing and requested authority to purchase 1800 feet 3/4" copper tubing in the approximate amount of $975.00. In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the purchase of the copper tubing be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Authority to Call for Bids - Van Truck, Water Department - Approximately $3,500.00: The Water department has an apparent need for a van-type compact truck for primary use as a water meter service vehicle. The estimated cost of the new unit is $3,500.00 less the trade-in of a 1954 International Pickup truck now in use. In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the authority be granted and the clerk of the Commission be authorized to issue a "Call for Bids" for the purchase of the truck to be received and opened 2 April 1969 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Request to solicit for Gallatin County Retarded Children Fund - Sigma Nu Fraternity - 29 March 1969: A letter received from Kirt Harding, Chairman of the Campus Committee Association for Retarded Children of Gallatin County for permission to conduct a Fund drive on Saturday, 29 March 1969, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that permission be granted the Sigma Nu Fraternity and Alpha 0 Pi Sorority to hold the fund drive as outlined on Saturday, 29 March 1969, for the Gallatin County Retarded Children and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and 323 324 Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. License Bond: New Budd Plumbing & Heating - Plumber: In compliance with Chapter Sixteen of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the continuation certi- ficate of the plumber's license bond of New Budd Plumbing and Heating of Bozeman was presented. The City Manager reported the Building Inspector had recommended the continuation of the bond and the City Attorney had approved the certificate as to form. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the bond be approved and accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Ordinance No. 876 - Defining 'Family' within Zoning Code: The City Manager presented a proposed revision to the Zoning Code, Ordinance No. 876, defining 'Family' as it pertains to the Zoning Code prepared by the City Attorney. Following a thorough discussion of the proposed ordinance, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the City Attorney be instructed to revise the Ordinance and to present it to the Comm- ission at the next regular Commission Meeting and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Ordinance No. 877 - Restricting Street Parking to Area between Curbs: Ordinance No. 877 prepared by the City Attorney prohibiting the parking of vehicles in the City Streets, except that portion of the streets between curb lines of the street, was presented. A thorough discussion followed and the Commission concurred with the recommendation of the City Manager and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the proposed ord- inance be revised by the City Attorney snd brought back for action at the next regular meeting of the Commission and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Ordinance No. 878 - Es tablishing Interest Rates for Regis tered Warrants: Ordinance No. 878 establishing the rate of interest to be paid on registered warrants of the City of Bozeman, Montana, and declaring the effective date of enact~ent as prepared by the City Attorneywas presented as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 878 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF INTEREST TO BE PAID ON REGISTERED WARRANTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA AND DECLARING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF ENACTMENT. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that Ordinance No. 878 be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Reports for February: The following reports were presented for February: Police Court Fire Chief Police Dept. - 1968 Annual Building Inspector Fluorida tion The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the Chief of Police be commended on the thoroughness of his annual report and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commiss- ioner Sedivy and Mayor MOrrow; those voting No, none. After examination of the claims and checking against the Claim Reg- ister, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the claims be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow: those voting No, none. Ad j ournmen t: There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Comm- issioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none.
