HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-03-26 330 Bozeman, Montana 26 March 1969 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, 26 March 1969, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Commissioner Sedivy opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had; , Minutes of the regular session held 19 March 1969 were read and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, Seconded by Mayor Morrow, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Easter Seal Lily Tag Day Sale - 5 April 1969 - Girls Keye Club: A letter received from Ronda Sandquist, president of the Girls Keye Club, requesting permiss~ ion to conduct an "Easter Seal Lily Tag" day sale in Bozeman on Saturday,S April 1969, was presented. In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that permission be granted the Girls Keye Club to conduct the sale as requested and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Request to Hold Easter Egg Hunt in Lindley Park Sunday, 6 April 1969 - Jaycees: A letter received from the Jaycee's requesting permission to stage the Annual Jaycee Easter Egg hunt in Lindley Park on Sunday afternoon, 6 April 1969, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the request be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy, and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Authority to Attend Fire Command School - 14-17 April 1969, Yakima, Washington - Fire Chief Huber: A Fire Department Officer Command School is scheduled to be conducted at Yakima, Washington, 14-17 April 1969, and in concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, and the Fire Chief, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that Fire Chief Jack Huber be authorized to attend the school and, it being in the public interest his expenses be paid from the General fund and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Ordinance No. 879 - Snow & Ice from Private Prenlises - Unlawful to place in City Streets & Alleys: Ordinance No. 879 amending Section 9.12.040 and 9.12.050 of the Bozeman Municipal Code to make it unlawful to place accumulated ice and snow from adjoining private premises in the City streets and alleys was again presented. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the proposed ordinance be tabled for an additional week for further study and brought back for action at the next regular meeting of the Commission and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Authority to Drill Test Well - New Disposal Plant Site: The City Manager informed the Commission that Thomas, Dean and Hoskins, Inc., consultant engineers for the City, having made a study of the new sewage disposal plant, recommended that a I 1 I I 1 I test well be drilled to determine the depth, and flow of water available at the site. Results of the test well to be used in firming up the plant design. Proposals were received from three well drillers for drilling a six inch test well on the site of the new sewage disposal plant and it is the recommendation of the City Engineer, the proposal of Jones Drilling and Welding Company be accepted. Following a discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that authority be granted to retain Jones Drilling and Welding Company to drill a 100 foot deep test well as recommended and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Commend Fargo and Larson for Awards received and the fine convention: It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that City Engineer Roman C. Fargo, recipient of the Water Works Man of the Year Award and Disposal Plant Operator, Carl H. Larson, recipient of the William D. Hatfield Award, be congratulated upon their achievements as recognized during the recent AWWA and WPCA convention in Bozeman. Also Water Superintendent Ralph Dunahoo and others who assisted -- Chairman Fargo and Mrs. Morrow in arranging for the meetings and activities be commended and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor MOrrow; those voting No, none. Reports for February: The Librarians report for the month of February was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Comm- issioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. ~./ /' ~~. -u/.
