Garcia - Student Letter re Soccer Fields k s December 13,2016 i To Whom It May Concern, Enclosed is a letter from a 5th grade student at Longfellow Elementary School in Bozeman, Montana. My student has spent a great deal of time and effort writing, editing and revising this persuasive letter. In the end,my student requested I send the letter on their behalf to you for consideration. If possible, it would be awesome if you and/or your organization were able to respond to this writer. I'm hoping to help create citizens that not only know how to write persuasively, but are y empowered to talce action when faced with a concern or problem in the community. Thank you, • Patricia Ritter 5th Grade Teacher s Longfellow Elementary School r 516 S. Tracy Ave Bozeman, MT 59715 V i 3 E 3 t F 3 I November 22, 2016 Dear Bozeman Community, Imagine this, you just pass the defender. It is you and the goaley. All of a sudden "wham!"; you trip on a hole. That is the problem with most soccer fields in Bozeman. Soccer is a really popular sport and Bozeman is growing really fast. Having better, and more fields, would L give you the chance to have tournaments without traveling so far. If we had more fields we could i finish State Finals in a week. Bozeman needs more soccer fields that are updated. 1, ! Soccer is a really popular sport. And Bozeman is growing very fast. Last season, my R i soccer team did not have good fields to practice on. Some of our fields are not safe because they are not level, and they have a lot of holes. The field we played on last season had a bunch e of holes in the field. Kids would trip and hurt their ankles, It is annoying when bumps throw off passes. If we get new fields, not as many kids will get hurt, Bozeman could get more money after making the fields. Bozeman could have soccer tournaments for locals and teams from other places. Traveling teams need somewhere to sleep and food. They would have to pay for hotel and food. That money goes back into the community. We will not need to spend as much money traveling. We won't have to pay for somewhere to sleep and food. Two seasons ago, we did not have enough fields to host state tournaments and finish them within a week. It took two weeks to finish State soccer tournaments. During tournaments, the parking lots were filled and some people had to park blocks away. The sidelines was very crowded. The benefit is, local tournaments, like State, could be finished in a single week. Yes, it would cost money creating fields, but eventually it will pay off. Less traveling for i local teams would save more money. Soccer players don't like playing on bad fields. More h s {k H 4 people would want to come and play in Bozeman. Traveling families would be happier because there would be more parking lots. Clearly Bozeman needs more soccer fields that are updated. Not only would there be less injuries but the s could get more money from hosting tournaments. People would have to spend money to sleep in a hotel and buy food. We would be able to finish state in a week, if not less. More people would get to play soccer. Sincerely, 00 41 I h Dominic Garcia
