Behrent - Black OliveFrom: Darrel Behrent <darrelalaska@aol.com> Date: December 19, 2016 at 5:13:22 PM MST To: <bkrueger@bozeman.net> Subject: Black Olive Brian Krueger The negative impact of allowing the developer to provide a minimum number of spaces for the above referenced project was very clear this past weekend when driving on Olive Street and seeing the difficulty the city crews had with clearing snow from the streets. Had all the on street parking spaces been utilized there would have been no way that snow could have been moved to the boulevard and a pile of snow would have been accumulated against the parked cars resulting in a single lane of traffic. Also, I see the developer is now proposing four car for hire spaces to further reduce the number of off street parking spaces. The concept of for hire automobiles is a new concept for Bozeman it is not known if it will really work for a small community. However, we can be sure that if the off street parking is minimized using the concept and it doesn’t work it is impossible to go back at a later date and fix it. A good example is the Brewery on Manley Road. A decision like this is not like a light bulb. If the original bulb (number of parking spaces) is too small you can’t just unscrew the bulb and replace it with a larger one (increase project off street parking). Darrel Behrent, P.E.
