HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-19-16, Public Comment, M. Konen,Tap RoomHello, I'm writing you to show my support for a "yes" vote by the City to allow the Bozeman Taproom to have an all-beverage license. A "no" vote would make absolutely no sense, considering the proximity of less family-friendly establishments to the school (The Zebra, 317 Colonel Blacks), which serve alcohol exclusively and do not cater to families. Denying the Taproom an all-beverage license seems discriminatory and unfair, and I'm not sure how those opposed to the all-beverage license justify this logic when there are 10-12 other establishments nearby that serve liquor, some of which are exclusively bars that don't serve food. People go to the Zebra / 317 / Colonel Black's to get drunk. I've seen people throwing up in the street in front of that building on more than one occasion. The Taproom does not offer a 'party' atmosphere in the middle of the day, and I've seen families enjoying meals together there the few times I've visited. The Taproom is a restaurant that serves a great selection of craft beers, but the reality of their situation is that many people don't enjoy craft beer, and they're simply trying to broaden their offering to appeal to a wider audience, not promoting degeneracy, and certainly not hurting the community by offering another great option for food and drink in downtown Bozeman. Thanks for your time. Matt Konen
