Message: Our youth are increasingly bombarded with questionable behavior from all sides in their daily
life. The shift in society to a more forgiving, accepting culture has obviously had both positive and
negative effects on our community and our children. While I like to be open minded and teach my
children about tolerance and diversity in the world, there is a time and a place for it. When my children
are at school I strongly believe that subjecting this captive and impressionable audience to adults that
could be acting irresponsibly and potentially recklessly as the result of being under the influence, is
completely inappropriate. Certainly there are better locations for a bar than across the street from an
elementary school. If the request for a hard liquor license can not be denied completely, which would be
in the best interest of our children, please consider limiting the serving of hard liquor to after school
hours, or away from plain view of the impressionable young students attending Hawthorne Elementary
school. The commission has an obligation to make the right decision for our children above any other
consideration. Thank you for for all you do for this wonderful city, Blythe Nirgenau
