to ask that you deny the full liquor request by the Taproom.
I realize that Hawthorne is a downtown school, and there are other bars a block away. The one
thing that separates the Taproom is that it is extremely visible from Hawthorne classrooms. It
should be the city's, and the school board's responsibility to have Bozeman elementary
students best interest in mind. Having kindergarteners, third, fourth, and fifth graders be
distracted, or to have to ask their teachers what those adults are doing...is less than ideal. I am
sure as parents you all can relate. There are many kids that have been effected by alcohol
abuse in their homes. They should not have to deal with alcohol consumption by someone they
know, or don't know across the street, when they are at school.
I do not want to hurt local businesses, and I hope that the Taproom can be content that they
got approved for beer and wine. I feel that hard alcohol is a whole different level .
We have to look out for the younger generations of our community. If one child is effected
negatively in anyway by this request I would hope that the school board, and the city
commissioners would agree that approving it would be a huge mistake.
