HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-19-16, Public Comment, C. Lee,Tap RoomDear Commissioner Mehl and City Commissioners,
After considerable thought I’m writing to urge you to deny the Taproom’s full liquor license (conditional
or otherwise). While I applaud the adaptive reuse of the historic Service Electric building, I remain
troubled by the presence of a bar directly across from the Hawthorne school. Put simply, kids come
first. It’s impossible to see how a full liquor license at this location would brighten and elevate our
community in comparison to a vodka, whisky and tequila-free view-shed for the children that attend
that school. Surely there is a way for the Taproom to achieve additional revenue through other
enhancements, e.g., a broader food menu, as opposed to through hard alcohol sales?? If this has been
the owners’ plan all along, even their name for the place is disingenuous.
Sincerely,
Craig
