HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-04-28 184 Bozeman, Montana 24 April 1968 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, 24 April 1968, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Comm- issioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr, City Manager Cutting, Ass't City Manager Frys1ie, Acting City Attorney Angel and the Clerk. I Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular meeting held l7 April 1968, were read and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commiss- ioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Proclamation: "Welcome Wagon Week:" A request from Mrs. Marjorie Richardson, Hostess of the Welcome Wagon, that Mayor Morrow proclaim the week of 29 April thru 5 Mayas ''Welcome Wagon Week" in Bozeman was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that Mayor Morrow's proclamation as requested by the Hostess of the Welcome Wagon be approved and endorsed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Proclamation: "Senior Citizens Month of May": At the request of the Reverand Donald P. Redfield of the Senior Citizens, Mayor Morrow announced his proclamation designating the month of Mayas "Senior Citizens Month" and asked that each citizen of Bozeman help, in whatever way he can, to make the month of May memorable by working 1 to provide within the community those benefits and opportunities which will add satisfaction and dignity to the lives of older Americans. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Comm- issioner Sedivy, that this proclamation of the Mayor be endorsed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lanoghr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow, those voting No, none. Authorization to Attend Montana Law Enforecement Academy: Basic School 12-25 May 1968: Patrolman Douglas Taylor and Larry Ross: The "Basic School" conducted by the Montana Law Enforecement Academy is scheduled to be held 12-25 May 1968, at Montana State University. The Chief of Police has requested authorization to submit the application of Officer Douglas Taylor and Larry Ross to attend the "Basic School," they being the next officers in order for that training. The City Manager recommended that submission of application, of the aforementioned members of the Police Department be authorized and, it being in the public interest, the expenses of the students be charged against the general fund. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that submission of applications for the above officers be authorized and their attendance at the "Basic School", if accepted, be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being I Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor MorroW; those voting No, none. Report of Fire Chief: Fire Command School - Yakima, Washington 8-11 April 1968: Fire Chief Huber reported on his attendance at the Fireman's Command School conducted at Yakima, Washington, 8-l1 April 1968. Chief Huber was very complimentary as to the manner in which the school was conducted and remarked there were some exce[ent speakers on such subjects of primary 1 1 I interest as handling fires resulting from city riots and fighting fires on the Interstate Highway. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that Chief Huber be highly commended on the excellent ~anner in which the report was presented and that it be accepted and approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Report of Building Inspector - Cities Electrical Inspectors Meeting- Helena: The City Building Inspector reported on the meeting of the City Electrical Inspectors on the State Electric Law held in Helena, 16 April 1968. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, se- conded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the report of Mr. Barrick be approved and accepted and that Mr. Barrick be commended on his complete resume of the meeting and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Report of City Manager: - Highway Safety Advisory Board - Helena - 28 February: The Ci~y Manager reported on his attendance at the Montana Highway Safety Advisory Board Meeting held in Helena, 28 February 1968. It was moved by Conuuissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Manager be commended on a very thorough report and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Comm- issioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Reports: "Con tinued": The following reports were presented: Cemetery Director of Finance Librarian The City Manager commen~ed on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Comm- issioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Museum of the Rockies - Request to hold Meeting 30 April 1968: Following a discussion of the Museum of the Rockies and in concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the request for permission of the Board of the Museum of the Rockies to hold a meeting, Tuesday, 30 April 1968, in the Commission of the City Hall building be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Comm- issioner Sedivy and Mayor Morrow; those voting No, none.
