Phone Number: (406) 209-0969 Message: I would like to give you an important thought to consider as you contemplate the local
sales tax. I heard the comment that implementing a sales tax would give relief to the average
Bozeman family, due to lower property taxes. Please remember that you have a significant
number of people in this city who work lower-wage jobs, who can't afford to own property, and for whom any increase in the cost of living will affect whether or not they can pay the exorbitant rents charged in Bozeman. There would be NO relief for them in this scheme, only increased
burden. In other words, the working class will get poorer. If you move forward, please
incorporate the idea mentioned that exempts food, clothing, and any other necessity. This city is
absolutely dependent upon the population to which I refer, and these people are already stretched to their limit simply trying to survive here. Thank You
