Skoglund - Bozeman TaproomFrom:Skoglund, Matt To:Agenda; trustees@bsd7.org Cc:Sarah Skoglund Subject:public comment re: Taproom request for full liquor license Date:Thursday, December 15, 2016 5:02:06 PM Dear City Commissioners, As parents of a child that will be attending Hawthorne School in a couple of years, we are greatly concerned about the impact of a bar serving hard alcohol during school hours across the street from our child's school. We expect the Bozeman School District and the City Commissioners to provide a safe learning environment for our child. We support a vibrant downtown, but allowing a bar to serve hard alcohol during school hours directly across the street from Hawthorne is completely unacceptable. And anyone claiming that alcohol is alcohol and it’s all the same – that beer is wine is vodka – is simply being disingenuous. As everyone knows, adding hard alcohol to the mix – shots of whiskey, for example – dramatically increases the potential for irresponsible drinking and harmful behavior. Please deny the Taproom's request to the City for a conditional use permit for a full beverage license. Thank you. Matt and Sarah Skoglund 308 N. Bozeman Avenue P.S. Many thanks to the Bozeman School Board for submitting a letter urging you to deny the Taproom’s request.
