Rosenzweig - Bozeman TaproomFrom:Scott Rosenzweig To:Agenda Subject:Taproom DISapproval Date:Tuesday, December 13, 2016 10:52:56 PM Dear Commissioners, I have been a Hawthorne parent since 2005, and have three kids - 16, 13 and a 9 year old now in fourth grade. I'm writing to voice my opposition to expanding the Tap Room’s ability to make people drunker quicker within direct view and within earshot of the Hawthorne School: 1) The idea that the Tap Room is “supporting a family atmosphere” by expanding from “Craft Beers” into “Full Liquor Bar” is… ridiculous, and dishonest. 2) There is a very clear difference between the “dozen establishments serving alcohol within a block of the school and there has been no harm to date”: The children cannot see – nor can they hear! – any of the other bars or restaurants from their classrooms or anywhere on school property. The Tap Room can be heard seen from inside Hawthorne classrooms when the windows are open. 3) Anyone who suggests that “the addition of spirits will have no negative impact on the neighborhood” gives no concern to the negative impact of alcohol throughout the general public – yet Hawthorne students are public school students. Personally, I support lots of lifestyle choices – but I think it’s a very wrong thing to have kids watching people drink in a bar during school hours (because alcohol messes more people up than just about anything)… or have the kids feeling like they maybe shouldn’t go hang out in the front yard on a nice day, just because it’s uncomfortable being outside trying to hold a pleasant outdoor learning session on the grass, under a tree, when across the street from a music-playing, open-sided bar, with loud, drinking patrons... doing shots instead of downing craft beers… it’s not about a “family atmosphere.” Thank you for your consideration, and your service, Scott Rosenzweig Scott Rosenzweig 463 Summer Ridge Rd.
