HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-14-16 Public Comment - T. Hayes - Black OliveDear City Commissioners, I am mostly in favor of the Black Olive development. I live 6 blocks away, on Black, and have no pressing concerns about traffic or crime or visual pollution. All of my friends that I have asked feel similarly. We would like the city to do something to help mitigate parking but do not feel like that is a deal breaker. I have lived in Bozeman off and on since the early 70’s and understand some people’s wishes that Bozeman was still that small cowboy town with light traffic, no sprawl and only the Baxter hotel towering over the rest of town. Well, I guess there was a 5-story Post Office building (a block from the proposed building), and wait a minute, weren’t there about 7 buildings on campus 5 stories or more? My point being that we have had tall buildings and Bozeman will continue to grow. Far better for the growth to be in town then up by the M or a multitude of other places that are more suitable for wildlife habitat. I have been mostly happy with the your and the county’s attempt to guide growth, maybe at the expense of personal property rights. I hope the city council has enough experience with the NIMBY complaints and knows there are many people like me who have been silent assuming that you will do the right thing. I want to let you know people like me are out there. BTW, I am certain the developer is more concerned about the profits than how all the neighbors and living-in-the-past residents may feel. As he should! I will thank him for making this building so nice looking anyway, and not on the horizon near Mt Ellis. Tom Hayes 816 S. Black 556-1496
