HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-11-29 117 Bozeman, Montana 29 November, 1967 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, 29 November, 1967, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Present were Mayor Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr, aity Manager Cutting, Ass't City Manager Fryslie, Acting City Attorney I O'Connell and the Clerk. Commissioner Morrow opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular session held 22 November, 1967, were read and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Authority to Invest Funds: $80,000.00 twenty-four days Treasury Bonds 4%.: It was reported by the Director of Finance, that approximately $80,000.00 in miscellaneous funds are available for investment for a period of twenty-four days in Treasury Bonds. I t was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the investment of these funds in Treasury Bonds be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:"Those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Authority to Purchase Tile Sewer Pipe - 4" & 6": $965.00 Approximately: The City has need for four and six inch tile sewer pipe in the approximate amount of $965.00. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the purchase of the four and six inch tile sewer pipe be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and I No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Authority to Purchase 3/4 Copper Water Pipe: Approximately $995.00: The City Manager reported that it would be desirable to replenish the City's stock of Copper water pipe and requested authority to purchase 3/4" copper pipe in the approximate amount of $995.00. In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the purchase of the copper pipe be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. License Bond: Gas Fitter: Lyle Williams, Bozeman, Montana: In compliance with Chapter 16 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the Gas Fitter bond of Lyle Williams, Bozeman, Montana, was presented for approval. The City Manager reported that the Building Inspector has recommended approval of the bond and the Acting City Attorney approved the bond as to form. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the bond be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, I Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Reports for October (Continued): The reports of the Disposal Plant Operator for the months of Sepcember and October were presented: It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the reports be approved as presented and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. 118 Proclamation: "Operation Appreciation Day" (Jaycees) December 7, 1967.: A reques t from the Jaycees for the Mayor to proc laim 7 December, 1967, as "Opera tion Apprecia tion Day' and sincerely urge all citizens of our community to join in honoring our SE~VICE MEN, those who have died and those now serving throughout the world, was presented. Mayor Sedivy issued the proclamation proclaiming the 7th day of December, as "Operation I Appreciation Day", and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that this proclamation be endorsed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Red Cross Blood Drawing - Dr. Charles A. Kirkpatrick ~ Five Rivers Chapter: American Red Cross: Dr. Charles Kirkpatrick, Chairman of Five Rivers Chapter, American Red Cross, appeared before the Commission in regard to the Red Cross Blood Drawing program. The local Red Cross owes the Regional Red Cross Center $5,971.00 for its share of operating the Blood Mobile and paying expenses involved in conducting blood drawings. He informed the Commission that in the event they cannot pay their share of the costs, they will lose the blood program. Dr. Kirkpatrick's proposal for setting up a "Roadblock" to coUect donations in an attempt to help raise needed funds was looked upon with disfavor by the Commission, and it was moved by Comm- issioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that Dr. Kirkpatrick meet with his committee and Red Cross officials in an attempt to find other means by which the funds be solicited and that the proposal be held over for a week for further examination in an effort to come with a better solution and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. I General Obligation Bonds: In compliance with the provisions of Section 16-2618, R.C.M., 1947, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the General Obligation Bonds increased from $60,000.00 to $85,000.00 held by the Director of Finance as Security for City Funds deposited in Bozeman banks be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy! those voting No, none. Storm Drain Pipe Line on South Eleventh Avenue: The City Manager commented briefly on a meeting held on the evening of 27 November, 1967, by the Chamber of Commerce where amon8 other projects discussed for possible inclusion in the Chamber's 1968 Program, a strong interest was expressed in the opening of South Eleventh Avenue from Curtiss to Main Street. He then announced that although funds still are not available to purchase the nec- essary right-of-way from Babcock to Main Street, preliminary steps are under way to establish a "Qas Tax" project to accomplish construction of the thirty-six inch Storm Drain Pipe line from Curtiss to Main Street. Vocational Education - Mayor Sedivy and Harold A. Fryslie: Mayor Sedivy and Ass't City Manager Fryslie gave a short report on their visit to the Helena I Area Vocational Education. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the report of the Mayor and the Ass't City Manager be accepted as presented and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. 119 Ad j ournmen t : There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion I was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Comm- issioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. __/,/ /.._ _,..:;f ~h ~:~. {if-~~~~/--;/:; ~.
