The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday, 2 August, 1967, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Sedivy, Commissioner
Langohr, City Manager Cutting, Ass't City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proccedings were had: I
Minutes of the regular session held 26 July, 1967, were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner=Langohr and Mayor Sedivy;
those voting No, none.
Authority to purchase 350 cu. yds. 12/" Crushed Gravel - Street Dept. Approximately $950.00:
The Street Department has need for a supply of crushed gravel for use in its program on various
streets within the City. The City Manager requested the authority to purchase 350 cubic yards one-
half inch crushed gravel at an approximate cost of $950.00. It was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded
by Commissioner Langohr, that the purchase of crushed gravel be approved and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: Those voting Aye Being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr;
those voting No, none.
Authority to purchase Firemen Uniforms: Approximately $750.00:
The Fire Chief reported that the Fire Department has need for various items of firemen uniform
apparel in the estimated amount of $750.00 and following the recommendation of the City Manager, that
the purchase of the uniforms be authorized as an item of the 1967-1968 budget, it was moved by Comm-
issioner Langohr, leconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the above purchase be approved and the motion was I
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, and Mayor
Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Consideration of Deed conveying to City 5,5881 Acres Park Requirement, in Kirk's No.4 Subdivision
(Tabled 26 July):
It was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the motion tabling the
consideration of the deed conveying to the City 5,5881 Acres of Park Requirement in Kirk's No.4
Subdivision be removed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye.bEdqg Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
The deedoonveying to the City 5.588l Acres of Park Requirement in Kirk's No.4 Subdivision was
again presented for reconsideration after further study. The City Manager concurred with the Park
Board in recommending that the Warranty Deed be accepted for the 5.5881 acres of Park Requirement
in Kirk's No.4 Subdivision. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that
the Warranty Deed be accepted as presented and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Surety Bond: Ass't Water Collector - Mrs. Helen M. Wansink: $10,000.00:
The surety bond in the amount of $lO,OOO.OO written by Hartfotd Accident and Indemnity Company
for Helen Wansink, Ass't Water Collector and Cashier for a period of one year from 1 August, 1967, I
to 1 August, 1968, and approved as to form by the City Attorney was presented. I t was moved by
Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the bond be approved as presented, and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr
and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.

plans & Specifications for SID No. 482: Paving one Block on South 4th Avenue:
Plans and Specifications covering the proposed improvement in Special Improvement District
No. 482, prepared by Thomas, Dean and Hoskins, Inc., supervising engineers, were placed before
the Coaunission. In concurrence with the City Engtneer, the City Manager recommended that the plans
and specifications, as presented be approved. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by
I Mayor Sedivy, that the plans and specifications be approved and the clerk of the Commission be
directed to publish a "Call for Bids" for the construction of the improvements for the district
with an opening day of 23 August, 1967, and to advertise for bids for the sale of the bonds of the
district in the approximate amount of $ll,OOO.OO to be received 30 August, 1967, and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Mayor
Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Plans & Specifications for SID No. 483: Sanitary Sewer 15th Ave. East adjacent to Babock Street:
Plans and Specifications covering the proposed improvement in Special Improvement District
No. 483, prepared by Thomas, Dean and Hoskins, Inc., supervising engineers, were placed before the
COIIlllission. In concurrence with the City Engineer, the City Manager recommended that the plans
and specifications, as presented be approved. It was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seoonded by Comm-
issioner Langohr, that the plans and specifications be approved and the Clerk of the City Comm-
ission be directed to publish a "Call for Bids" for the constructions of the improvements for the
district with an opening date of August 23, 1967, and to advertise for bids for the sale of bonds
of the district in the approximate amount of $l6,500.00 to be received 30 August, 1967 and the motion
I was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner
Langohr; those voting No, none.
J. C. Request to hold Jaycee Rodeo Parade: Saturday 26 August! 1967 10:30 A. M.:
A letter received from Mr. Glen Satra, J. C. Roundup Parade Chairman, requesting permission to
stage a rodeo parade, Saturday, 26 August, 1967, at lO;30 o'clock A.M., to begin at Buttrey's
Shopping Center and proceed down Main Street to Bogarts Grove was presented. It was moved by Comm ~
issioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the request be granted and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye beingCommissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those
vo ting No, none.
Hearing: Ordinance No. 866 - Appropriations (l967~l968):
This was the time and place for public hearing on the appropriations Ordinance No. 866 for
the fiscal year ending 30 June, 1962.
Affidavit of publication of Notice of hearing was presented. No one appeared to verbally
protest and the Clerk of the Commission stated no formal protests had been filed in opposition to
the adoption and passage of the proposed ordinance and accompanying annual appropriation budget.
In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded
I by Commissioner Langohr, that the Clerk of the Commission be authorized and directed to publish the
ordinance as required by law, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Resolution No. 1332: Tax Levy for 1967-1968 Fiscal Year:
Resolution No. 1332 setting the tax levy at 51.1 mills for the year 1967-1968 was presented

Tau Beta Sigma - Montana State University, Band Women's Honorary: Small Concession Stand:
A request from the Tau Beta Sigma, Band Women's Honorary of the Montana State University, for

permission to set up a small concession at the Bozeman City Band Concerts in Bogarts Grove was
presen ted. It was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that permission be granted
as reques ted, to set up and maintain the small concession in Bogarts Grove on Tuesday evenings
during the City Band Concert performances and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote~
those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
Recognition - Thurman Cloninger "Life Membership."
It was reported that Thurman Cloninger, Park Superintendent, was awarded a "Life Membership"
by the Montana Recreation and Parks Association in Convention at Lewistown, Montana, on 4 June,
1967. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that recognition be noted
and that Thurman Cloninger be commended for his splendid efforts and distinction and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, and Mayor
Sedivy; those voting No, none.

The following claims No. 9517 thru 9776, inclusive, were presented on the various claims as

The City Manager commented on the claims and stated he had audited them and found them to be
true and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommended that they be approved and the
Director of finance be directed to issue warrants in payment. After examina tion of the c lal. ms in
detail and checking against the claim register, it was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner
Langohr, that all claims as presented be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and
no vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting no, None.

There being no further business to come before the commission at this time, it was moved by I
