HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-09-06 78 Bozeman, Montana 6 September, 1967 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, 6 September, 1967, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr, City Manager Cutting, Ass't City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. I Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular session held 30 August, 1967, were read and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Request to Sponsor West Coast Shows Carnival 12-16 June, 1968: Lions Club: A letter received from Mr. Wayne Gibson, Secretary of the Bozeman Lions Club requesting per- mission to reserve the dates of June 12 to June 16, 1968 for the presentation of the West Coast Shows Carnival was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr that the Lions Club request be approved with license fee consideration as a charitable project and the confirmation of the dates mentioned above and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thos voting Aye Being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Resolu tion No. 1338 : Fixing Date, Maturity Date & Principal Amount of Bonds SID No. 482: Resolution No. 1338 authorizing the issuance of bonds of Special Improvement District No. 482 was presented, entitled: I COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1338 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FIJITNG THE DATE, MATURITY DATE AND THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF BONDS TO BE ISSUED IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 4&2. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the resolution be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and MaY9r Sedivy; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 1339: Fixing date, Maturity Date & Principal Amount of Bonds SID No. 483: Resolution No. 1339 authorizing the issuance of bonds of Special Improvement District No. 483 was presented, entitled: . COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1339 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE DITY OF BOZEMAN FIXING THE DATE, MATURITY DATE AND THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF BONDS TO BE ISSUED IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 483. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the resolution be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. petition for Building Restrictions on South Tracy Avenue: I A petition signed by thirteen residents and owners of property on the west side of South Tracy requesting, that no appartment type buildings be erected on the east side of the street owned by Robert Simkins, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that receipt of the petition be acknowledged and that the subject matter be tabled for further study and, possibly fur- ther information from the petitioners and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langobr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. 79 Plans & Specifications for SID No. 470 - Kirk Park Development: Plans and Specifications covering the proposed improvement in Special Improvement District No. 470 prepared by Thomas, Dean and Hoskins, Inc., supervising engineers, were placed before the Commission. In concurrence with the City Engineer, the City Manager rQcommended that the plans I and specifications, as presented be approved. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner MOrrow, that the plans and specifications be approved and the Clerk of the Commission be directed to publish a "Call for Bids" for the construction of the improvements for the district with an opening date of 27 September, 1967, and to advertise for bids for the sale of the bonds of the district in the approximate amount of $33,000.00 to be received 4 October, 1967, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Comm- issioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Authority to Call for Bids to Fence South Reservoir: plans & Specifications 8' Fence: Plans and specifications for fencing the City's South Reservoir site located three miles South of Bozeman were presented. The proposed project would include the installation of 2248 linear feet of 8 foot high chain link fence, one (1) four-foot single swing gate and one (1) sixteen-foot semi- cantilever gate. The City Manager recommended approval and explained that this project has been under study for several years by the water department as a badly need capital improvement to provide security for the reservoir, in keeping with the 1958 Nash right-of-way agreement, and would be an initial step toward the eventual landscapping of the site. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the project and the I plans and specifications be approved as presented and the Clerk of the City Commission be directed to issue a "Call for Bids" for the construction of the project with an opening date of 27 September, 1967, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Authority to Call for Bids for Cast Iron Pipe and Fittings: Approximately $8,000.00: It was reported that it would be desirable to replenish the City's stock of Cast Iron Pipe and Fittings in the approximate amount of $8,000.00. The Commission concurred in the recommendation of the City Manager, and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the purchase be authorized as requested and the Clerk of the City Commission be directed to issue a"Ca1l for Bids" for the purchase of Cast Iron Pipe and Fittings to be opened 27 September, 1967, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Claims for August: Claim No's. 9819 thru 10146 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows: General $27,145.69 Garbage $ 5,578.66 Street 11,046.13 Parking Meter 1,152.20 Water 14,735.11 Police Reserve 5,512.23 I S.D.S. 3,660.74 SID's 42,512.44 Library 2,303.39 Bldg. Const. 1,889.69 Planning Board 305.00 Cem. Perm. Care 4,780.63 Park 7,882.83 Dr. Education 164.00 Cemetery 3,274.03 Fire Relief 12,936.31 Band 1,959.47 Total $146.838.55 The City Manager commented on the claims and found them to be true and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommended that they be approved and the Director of Finance be directed 80 to issue warrants in payment. After examination of the claims and checking against the claim register, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the claims be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. ~~ journmen t; I There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr.
