HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-06-14 42 Bozeman, Hontana 14 June 1967 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, 14 June 1967, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr, City Manager Cutting and the Clerk. Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had. I Minutes of the regular meeting held 7 June 1967, were read and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy;' those voting No, none. Street Lighting: Greek Way Subd ivis ion: A letter received from the Sigma Omega of Kappa Delta House Corporation, 503 West Cleveland, requesting installation of street lights in the Greekway Subdivision as laid out by the Montana Power Company was presented. The City Manager recommended that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution of intention to create this street lighting district based upon information to be furnished by the City Engineer and the Montana Power Company. It was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the foregoing action as recommended by the City Manager be approved and initiated and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy, and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. Q.se of the Old Coun try club for Fourth of Ju!LJ:..ireworks: Exchange Club: A letter received from Lloyd Raffety, Secretary of the Exchange Club of Bozeman, requesting permission to use the old Country Club grounds for their annual Fourth of July Fireworks display I was presen ted . The City Manager recommended that the permission to stage the display, as requested be granted and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor. Sedivy, that the permission be granted as recommended and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Laogohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Report on Park-Recreation Conference: Lewi~town, 3-t+ June 1967 (~__Cloni.nger.) : Park Superintendent Cloninger reported on the Park Recreation Convention held in Lewistown, 3-4 June 1967. His report consisted of a complete resume of the program and the values derived by the City of Bozeman in having representatives at this convention. Mayor Sedivy extended the appreciation of the Commission on the completeness of the report. I t was moved by Mayor Sed ivy, seconded by Comm- issioner Langohr, that the report be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. 9.on ti0ya ti~of the ._Elec tr~cal Bond: John L. Shaffer of Bozeman: --.....................................-------.-~ The electrical bond of John L. Shaffer, dba Shaffer Construction, Bozeman, Montana, was presented. The bond having been approved by the City Building Inspector and as to form by the City Attorney, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the continuation of the aforementioned bond be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being I Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. The following reports were presented for May: Cemetery Disposal Plant Operator Building Inspector Director of Public Service The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by 43 Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy, and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. l2.f~.L~S_~dewal k _}'rogram: I I t was reported that the City Engineer has complete his survey of Walks and Curbs within the City and recommendations for repair and or installation for the year 1967. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Sedivy, that the City Engineer's recommendation for repair and/or in= stallation of "Walks and Curbs" within the City for the year 1967, including the installation of sidewalks on the South side of Mendenhall Street between Seventh and Eleventh Avenue be approved, and that the Clerk of the Commission be authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the opening date of 5 July 1967 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Academy - 20 March to }_Jun"e_!_~_62: Sergeant Harold McDowell of the Police Department appeared before the Commission and gave a resume of his attendance and course of training at the 78th FBI National Academy session at Wash- ington, D.C., beginning 20 March and concluding on 7 June 1967. It was moved by Mayor Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that Police Sergeant McDowell be congratulated on the completion of the F.B.I. Academy session and that his very complete resume of the Academy Training be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
