HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-07-05 50 Bozeman, Mon tana 5 July 1967 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Build ing, Wednesday, 5 July, 1967, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Sedivy, Comm- issioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr, City Manager Cutting, Ass't City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. I Mayor Sedivy opened the mee ting wi th a prayer and the fo llowing proceed ings were had: Minutes of the regular meeting held 28 June 1967 were read and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. 2E-cn B..~:ds2_~eet DePil~!:p~en~=-!?ump__Tru<?.l~: This was the time and place set for opening bids on a 2\ ton dump truck for use by the City Street Department. The affidavit of publication of the 'Call for Bids" was presented. I t was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the bids be opened and read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sediby; those voting No, none. The foll~7ing bids were opened and read: Owenhouse Hardware Company 36 West Main St. $5,183.00 Ro lfe & Hood, Inc., 25 North Willson Ave. 4,682.49 Upon request of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the bids be referred to the City Engineer and the Street Superintendent for tabulation I and the recommendation be brought back for action by the Commission on Wednesday, 12 July 1967, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Affidavit of publication of "Notice to Bidders':' was presented and it was moved by Comm- issioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the bids filed with the Clerk of the City Comnlission be opened and read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. The follow bids were opened and read: W. D. Howe 11 s Bozeman, Montana $3,649.00 The bids were then referred to the City Engineer for his study and final recommendation. Lennon, Director of the Montana Summer School for the Adult Blind, requesting permission to place a table in front of one of the empty stores or buildings on Main Street during the'trazy Days" in Bozeman, 21 July 1967, and also on 22 July, 1967, for the pur- I pose of selling craft articles made by the students in the program. It was moved by Commissioner Morro"7, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that permission to sell the craft articles be granted with the stipulation that the consent of the owner or business firm of the building in front of which they propose to place their table be obtained and the motion was carried by the following Aye and no vote; Those voting aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none 51 Subs ti tu tion to four-hour Parking Meters on Jones Parking Lot: Due to the fact that the City's metered parking lot located on the corner of North Willson Avenue and West Mendenhall Street continues to be unoccupied, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that authority be granted to remove the presen t two-hour parking meters and ins ta 11 four-hour parking meters with the though t in mind that the longer duration in I parking would make the lot more available to down-town employees and others and thus show an in- crease in income and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Consideration of ~id: Award of Walks and Curbs: The City Engineer having completed his study of the Bid of W. D. Howells for construction of Walks and Curbs (1967) in the amount of $3,649.00 recommended that he be awarded the con trac t for the improvement of Walks and Curbs on the bas is that it was the only bid submitted and was in fac t a competitive bid. The City Manager concurred in this recommendation and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the above bid be awarded to W. D. Howells as re- commend ed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Langohr, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Sedivy; those votin0 No, none. Care If , 81 2 . 50 Total $107,541.% The City Manager commented on the claims and found them to be true and lawful claims against the Ci ty of Bozeman and recommended that they be approved and the Director of Finance be directed to issue warrants in payment.
