SUBJECT: Professional Services Agreement for CompassCom Customizations

RECOMMENDATION: I recommend approving the Professional Services Agreement (to be
signed by the City Manager).
BACKGROUND: The City of Bozeman has utilized the CompassTrac software application as
an automatic vehicle location (AVL) solution since 2014 to track our Streets, Cemetery, and
Parks operations more accurately and for reporting vehicle metrics. We currently have AVL units in 3 sweepers, 14 plow trucks, 5 graders, 1 ice slice truck and are tracking ignition, broom, blade, sand, and water functions of the vehicles along with location and driving information.
The Public Works Department would like to automate the visual display of the data to enable our
existing Cityworks and mapping applications with real-time vehicle location and completed
work activities. To do this, we are asking CompassCom to customize our database structure to capture the data in a continuous table instead of a daily table that it currently utilizes. This
customization would provide staff efficiency in assigning work activates by being able to
accurately visualize completed work over a period of time.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Total costs are estimated to be $1,750. These funds are available within
the FY17 contracted services budget for the GIS Department.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
