Subject: Density
Chris,
I understand the Commission will be discussing density at tonight's meeting. I am writing to urge you to
adopt the strongest possible density standards. Having come to Bozeman from California, and having
seen the effects of unchecked growth there, I can attest that increasing density is the only way to
maintain the livability, quality of life, and natural environment that Bozemanites hold dear. In the past
year on the planning board, I have been surprised by the number of low density developments that have
come before the board. It is an issue that cries out for attention both by the Commission and in the
upcoming community plan. We need strong direction from the Commission that the City's future is in
high density, mixed-use development. Such development will reduce sprawl, preserve open space,
improve transportation, and maintain the desirability of our lovely city.
Please feel free to share this message with the entire Commission.
Thank you for your continued service to Bozeman.
Best,
Paul
