Stephenson - Black OliveDear City Commissioners, I would like to urge you to consider how to maintain the wonderful character and accesibility of our one-of-a-kind downtown Bozeman. I have lived and worked in Bozeman for 26 years, and have seen the downtown grow more vibrant and utilized over the years. I find myself visiting downtown more now, than I ever did in 1990's. The downtown has it all, from Post office, to hardware, entertainment, to outdoor gear, restaurants, groceries, wonderful food, shopping, and my local bank. It is wonderful what is available to all of us who live here, and amazingly, it is still fairly easily accessible at this point in time. I am very concerned about the encroachment of massive structures that loom along our streets (Mendenhal) and overshadow the unique nature of our downtown area. These structures literally make our small town area feel much less accessible and certainly not more welcoming. My family and I live east of downtown and we are opposed to the proposed Black & Olive structure for ALL of the reasons you have heard in the letters to the editor and during the public meetings. It makes sense to see a Black & Olive building going up somewhere like along Highland Blvd, where there is easy access to the bus route, room to provide adequate parking, trails to downtown, land contours allowing views and minimizing enroachment on neighbors' sunlight and views. This makes sense. Building in a beautiful part of downtown Bozeman does not make sense. Please don't let big money have the last word in the way our communitly grows. Thank you for the work you are doing in representing what is best for our community. Sincerely, Sally Stephenson 1326 Robin Lane Bozeman, MT 59715
