This building is setting a huge precident and pretty soon our light, our skies, our mountain views will be reserved for the wealthy few who can afford to live in these high rises. This 9th and Olive proposal is an abomination to the spirit of Bozeman. This building uses every “legal” inch of space without considering the neighborhood’s needs. It is taking advantage of an already crouded street for “additional“ parking. His other buildings made it through before we knew what was happening. Stop now! This not progress. This is greed. People have moved here because of the spirit of this area. We have come from big cities and crouded streets and traffic jams and are wanting something different. How would you enjoy living next to this 5 story building while you are trying to enjoy your back yard.? There are NO backsides to these buildings aand they are lit up all night long! It was very “nice” of him to change the facade of this building but it does not hide the fact that he added a two bedroom unit and eliminated 2 parking spots!! Who in Montana would be able to car share?? That’s a fantasy. Nothing is close in Montana except downtown facilities. This is madness and I hope you are not taken in by this glittery idea of progress. All over the country this is seen as the solution to growth. Have you ever considered the fact that in the Gallatin Valley we live in an area of limited water supplies, impending drought conditions, poor snowfall and enclosed by mountains that hold polution in the valley? There MUST be limits set on growth in this area!!! We are building ourselves right out of what makes this place LIVEABLE! Placerville, CA, set limits on this very thing. NO new building and it's a beautiful town with happy folks living there. Imagine that! Growth and expansion is industrial thinking in a time where we should be planning for sustainability and quality of life. This is Austin, TX and we are heading in the very same direction! Please consider the future of our town! Sincerely, Larry and Collette Hops
