Cooper - Bozeman TaproomFrom:Brenda Cooper To:Agenda; trustees@bsd7.org Subject:Taproom Travesty, Please heed our concern Date:Saturday, December 03, 2016 11:39:58 AM Dear City Commissioners and School Board Trustees, As a Bozeman community member, and mother of school-aged children I am concerned about the impact of a bar serving hard alcohol during school hours across the street from an elementary school. I expect the Bozeman School District and City Commissioners to provide safe learning environment's for our children. Allowing a bar serving hard alcohol during school hours within 100 feet and visible from classroom windows is unacceptable. The very fact that this establishment was able to obtain a beer and wine license by skirting the clearly defined regulation of not being on the same street as a by changing the mailing address from one side of the building to the other demonstrates that the owner/operators do not have our children's best interests at heart. By the way, there still is a functioning entrance/exit door facing Hawthorne School. And let's also remember that a school and playground act as a park all year around and after school hours.I cannot begin to keep track of the many police reports about inebriated individuals passed out in public places, most notably the latest break in at our public library. Do we really want to be welcoming our neighborhood playground for such an eventuality when a bar exists across the street? Please exercise good judgement in this instance and deny the Taproom's request to the City for a conditional use permit for a full beverage license. Sincerely Brenda Boyd Cooper * "...a retail license may not be issued pursuant to this code to any business or enterprise whose premises are within 600 feet of and on the same street as a building used exclusively as a church, synagogue, or other place of worship or as a school..."
