HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-05-30 I 1 I Bozeman, Montana 30 May 1973 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 30 May 1973 at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Grabow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes and the Clerk. Commissioner Vandeventer opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had. Minutes of the regular meeting held Wednesday, 23 May 1973 were approved as read. Consideration of Seal Coat Bids: Project No. HB 436-254, Seal Coat Proiect The engineer representing Consultant Thomas, Dean and Hoskins, Inc., and the City Engineer having completed their study of the bid submitted for 81,834 square yards seal coating as approved by the Montana State Highway Department, recommended the bid of Bozeman Sand and Gravel, Inc., in the amount of $30,000 OIL the basis of their low bid. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, Seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the construction as stated above be awarded to Bozeman Sand & Gravel, Inc., on the basis of their bid in the amount of $30,000.00 contingent upon approval by the Montana State Highway Department and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Authority to Call for Bids - Recreation Complex, Open Bids 20 June 1973 Plans and specifications for Bozeman Recreation Complex Exterior 8' fence as prepared by Mo- rrison-Maierle, Inc., was placed before the Commission. In concurrence with the consulting engineers, the City Manager recommended that the plans and specifications as presented be approved and that a "Call of Bids" for Exterior 8' Fencing for the Recreation Complex with an opening date of 20 June 1973 be authorized. It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that they concur in the recommendation of the City Manager and the Clerk of the Com- mission be authorized and directed to publish a "Call for Bids" with an opening date of 20 June 1973 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrking, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Application for HB 254 Funds (Gas Tax) to Purchase Gravel. An application form HB-254 Funds for the No. I priority for the purchase of approximately 2,000 ton of 3/4" and 4,000 ton 1/2" crushed gravel to be used to improve and maintain certain gravel streets and alleys and to resurface approximately 72 blocks of paved streets within the City of Bozeman at an estimated cost of $12,000 to be paid for from Gas Tax funds allocated to the City of Bozeman under provisions Extraodinary Session House Bill No.42, 436 and 254, and complying with Rules and regulations promulgated by the Montana State Department of Highways for administration of the Act was presented. Following a discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Vendeventer, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the application for the purchase of crushed gravel be signed and submitted to the Montana State Highway Commission and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrking, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. 429 430 Presentation of Area Wide Water Study - Thomas, Dean & Hoskins The area Wide Water Study as prepared by Thomas, Dean and Hoskins, Inc., was presented. Mr. T. H. Thomas was present to give a summarized report of the study and answer any questions that the Commission may have generated. Following a thorough discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that they accept the Area Wide Water Study as presented, expressing their appreciation for a very acceptable study and that the claim for the study be approved when presented. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commis- sioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkinq, Commissioner Vandeventer, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports were presented. Librarian Director of Finance The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended approval thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Contract Documents SID No. 512, 519, 520 and Construction of No. Wallace The Contract documents for the construction of SID's 512, 519, 520 and North Wallace Avenue were presented. The City Manager recommended that the contracts be approved as presented. It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the contract documents be approved and that the Mayor and Clerk of the Commission be authorized and directed to sign the contracts for the City of Bozeman and that Long Construction be authorized to proceed with the construction of 512, 519, and 520 and that they be authorized to proceed with the construction of North Wallace Avenue contingent upon the approval of the Montana State Highway Department. The Motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Ad j ournmen t : There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, Seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none.
