BACKGROUND: The Bozeman Tourism Business Improvement District Board of Trustees has three vacant positions with one existing term expiring July 31st, 2018 and two other terms with an updated expiration date of on July 31st, 2020. Three applications have been received. In August, 2009 the City Commission created the BTBID Board to manage the newly created District (Cht. 2.90, BMC). The mission of the Board is to promote tourism that generates room nights for lodging facilities in the city of Bozeman by effectively marketing the region as a preferred travel destination. BTBID members are appointed to four year terms. Board appointees must either be a property owner within the District or the duly authorized designee of an owner of property within the District. The Bozeman Tourism Business Improvement District Board of Trustees currently has three vacant positions and three applicants. I graduated from Montana State University in 1999 with a degree in Business Marketing. I am currently the General Manager of the Comfort Inn of Bozeman, and have been since 2001. I have been a part of the 228 Bozeman TBID since it's inception, and hope to be in the future. I think we have done some great things to attract visitors to Bozeman, and we can continue to make great strides in sharing what we know, that Bozeman is the greatest place on earth. I am also chair person of the Montana Co-op for Choice Hotels, and sit on the Regional Advisory Board for Choice Hotels Region 9. By doing so, I not only am able to share my expertise, but am also able to obtain knowledge of what is working at other hotels in other areas across the country. I was born in Montana and literally raised in the hospitality business. I have dedicated my entire adult life to learning and embracing the art of hospitality. In turn this has allowed me over 30 years of hands-on experience in the industry. I 232 am extremely passionate regarding the success of my own business as well as the industry as a whole in Bozeman. I believe I have an understanding of the local economic outlook and the overall needs of the community with regard to lodging and tourism. I feel that it is so very important that the history and evolution of hotels/motels in Bozeman is represented and I would be able to offer firsthand knowledge and insight on this topic which I think is relevant to smart decision making. I also feel that the "Independent" properties must have a voice and that an independent hotel owner's perspective opens up a unique dialogue. I have a great respect for the challenges, demands and the critical impact the lodging industry has on the Bozeman community. I would be honored to have a voice on such an important board making key decisions impacting Bozeman's economic sustainability. For the past 50+ years we have owned and operated this property. Additionally, my Dad built the Lewis & Clark Motel in Bozeman in 1976 and we are excited to announce that we will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary this year. I am proud and feel priviledged to be a small business owner of an independent hotel in the City of Bozeman.
