HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-30-16 Public Comment - S. Sewell - Bozeman TaproomDear City Commissioners and School Board Trustees, As a Bozeman downtown community member I want to voice my concerns about the Taproom on Mendenhall and Rouse. 1) I was very surprised to drive by and see that such a high visibility sports-bar appearing business had been allowed to operate immediately across the street from an elementary school. I am concerned about the high visibility of the Taproom and its alcohol consumption in such close proximity to Hawthorn School. Other establishments near Hawthorn are much less visible and have a restaurant appearance rather than a bar appearance. 2) I am concerned that alcohol service is allowed there during school hours and I would like the alcohol service to be limited to after 4pm. 3) In addition, I am concerned about the application for a hard liquor license and the increased impact of a bar serving hard alcohol, especially during school hours. I ask that you do not allow a hard alcohol license so close to Hawthorn and that as mentioned, you limit all alcohol service to after 4 pm. I expect the Bozeman School District and City Commissioners to provide safe learning environment's for our children. Allowing a bar serving and alcohol but especially hard alcohol during school hours within 100 feet and so visibly from classroom windows is unacceptable. Please deny the Taproom's request to the City for a conditional use permit for a full beverage license and make provisions for decreasing visibility during school hours. Thank you for your consideration, Saundra Sewell 317 South 5th Ave
