Subject: high density development
Dear Commissioner Mehl:
I am writing in support of higher density development in the Main Street Corridor along Main, Babcock
and Mendenhall Streets, and believe that Block M, The Lark, 5 West, the Element Hotel and proposed
developments at Black and Olive and the old City Center Hotel at Main and 7th are good developments
that are vital to the long term health of the corridor. Mixed use development for rent and sale in this
area, especially mid-rise residential will contribute to the vitality of the area and assure long term health
and vibrance.
As an owner of property on Main Street and resident of the South Side of town in the historic overlay
district, I am anxious to see these developments continue, and I strongly support them. While I
understand these developments can have some significant impact vis-à-vis parking, traffic, crime, etc.,
the alternative is stagnation and empty space which will be far worse problems to deal with.
Please support continued development of these types.
Sincerely,
Joe Cartwright
