HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-02-21 I 1 I 381 Bozeman, Hontana 21 February 1973 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session Wednesday, 21 February 1973, at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Grabow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commission- er Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, Acting City Attorney O'Connell and the Clerk. Commissioner Vollmer opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had. Minutes of the regular meeting of 14 February 1973 were approved as read. Commission.Reso1.2c1tion No. l563,Intent to Create SID No. 520 - Paving No. 20th Ave. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, DECLARING IT TO BE THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, TO CREATE A SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT TO BE KNOWN AS SPECIAL IMPROVE- MENT DISTRICT NO. 520 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING AND INSTALLING AN ASPHALTIC-CONCRETE PAVING, INTEGRAL CONCRETE CURB AND GUTTERS, NECESSARY APPURTENANCES THERETO, ALSO CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION OF NECESSARY STORM DRAINAGE PIPE, DITCHES, INLETS, MANHOLES AND OTHER APPURTENANCES TO THE STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM ON NORTH 20TH AVENUE FROM MAIN STREET TO THE NORTH LINE OF WEST BEALL STREET AND ON A PORTION OF WEST BEALL STREET BEGINNING AT THE WEST LINE OF NORTH 20TH AVENUE TO A POINT 117 FEET lI1ESTERLY THEREFROM. prepared by the Acting City Attorney as directed by the City Commission was presented. The Commission concurred \17ith the recommendation of the City Manager and it was moved by Comm- issioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that Commission Resolution No. 1563 declaring it to be the intention to Create SID No. 520, paving North 20th Avenue be passed and adopted and that Wednesday, 14 March 1973, be the date set for public hearing and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Comm- Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Corurniss ion Resolution No. 156/\ - HEMORI/\L to OSCAR E. ,CUTTING In memoriam to Oscar E. Cutting, Commission Resolution No. 1564 was presented, entitled COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1564 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COMMEMORATING THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF OSCAR E. CUTTING. Commissioner Sedivy stated it had been a personal privilege to serve as a Commissioner during the time Oscar E. Cutting was City Manager and considered it just as much of a privilege to move the adoption of Commission Resolution No. 156t~ in memoriam to Oscar E. Cutting. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind and carried by those voting Aye: Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehr- kind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. _lLti~ Tie-On & Annexation Agreements - Remco, Inc., Town Pump, Inc. Two "Utility Tie On and Annexation Agreements" were presented providing for Remco, Inc., a Utah Corporation of 225 South Second East, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Bozeman Town Pump, Inc., a corpor- ation of 600 South Main Street, Butte, Montana, who signed a waiver of protest to annexation to connect at their own expense the property located west of the City of Bozeman with the existing Water and Sewer systems of the City of Bozeman or their extensions pursuant to the provisions and authority given by Section 11-1001, R.C.M. 19lf7 and as amended by the 1971 Legislative Assembly. Following a discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vande- venter, that the two Utility Tie-On and Annexation Agreements for permission to connect buildings erected and to be erected upon the premises be approved waiving protest to future water main special improvement districts which may be created to provide adequate supply of water and fire protection to their property. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Proclamation: "Buddy_poppy Da)''' - Saturday, 19 May 1973 In accordance with a request from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mayor Grabow proclaimed Saturday, 19 May 1973 as "Buddy Poppy Day" and urged every citizen to give generous recognition to this program and to obtain and wear a Buddy Poppy on this day. It was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the Mayor's proclamation be endorsed and the motion \17as carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. A12-,=-horiz0.!ion. to Attend Econolite Training Session, Anaheim, Calif., 2-4 April, Patrolman ~ick Boyer There is an Econolite Training Session to be held in Anaheim, California, 2-4 April 1973 and Chief Johnson requested authority for Patrolman Dick Boyer to attend the training session. In con- currence with the recommendation of Chief of Police Johnson, also concurred in by the City Manager, 382 it was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the authority for Patrolman Dick Boyer to attend the Training Session be granted and, it being in the public interest his expense be paid from the appropriate fund and the motion was carried hy the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Reports The City Manager commented on the following reports and recommended approval thereof. t.Jater Collec tor Director of Finance Cemetery Director of Public Service It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none L~-.!~ters --=:...1'0 B(neman Senior High' School and Rosary High_ School It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrldnd, that a letter be add- ressed to the Bozeman Senior High School and fue Rosary High School expressing the interest and best wishes of the City Commission during the Class "AA" and Class "B" tournaments. The motion was carried by the follml7ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none.
