HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-11-15 Bozeman, Montana 15 November 1972 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 15 November 1972, at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Grabow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commiissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, City Manager Frys1ie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, Acting City Attorney O'Connell and the Clerk. Commissioner Vollmer opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had. Minutes of the regular meeting held Wednesday, 8 November 1972 were approved as corrected. I Authorization to Purchase Copper Tubing - $2,860.00: The Water Department has need of copper tubing to be used in the installation and repair of watet; ~~(j~~'~'a-'i: an approximate cost of $2,860.00. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the City Manager be authorized to purchase the tubing and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Request to Conduct Fund Drive - M.S.U. Band, 18 November 1972: A letter received from the Montana State University Band requesting authority to conduct a fund drive in the business district on Saturday, 18 November 1972, from 9:00 o'clock A.M. to Noon was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the fund drive be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Application for Beer License for One-Half l1ear, The Ore House: An application for a one-half year on premise beer license along with the appropriate fee from the Ore House was presented. The City Manager stated that he knew of no reason to deny this appli- cation and recommended approval thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the application be approved and the Director of Finance be instructed to issue the license and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. I Request to Vacate Alley - Juniper to Aspen Streets between North Seventh andEighth Avenue: A letter received from Douglas Drysdale on behalf of Howard H. Nelson, requesting that the alley from Juniper to Aspen Streets between North Seventh and North Eighth Avenues within the City of Bozeman be vacated was presented. The Commission concurred with the recommendation of the City Mana- ger and it was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Manager acknowledge receipt of the request and that it be tabled for a week for investigation and staff recommendation and the Motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Quit Claim Deed to Increase Width - North 20th Avenue, Western General Enterprises: A Quit Claim Deed whereby Western General Enterprises, Inc., convey unto the City of Bozeman a ten foot wide strip of land lying westerly of and contiguous to the westerly right of way line of North 20th Avenue as platted West Park Manor First Addition to Boze~8n, and also a ten foot strip of land lying easterly and contiguous to the easterly right of way line of North 20th Avenue as platted in West Park Manor First Addition to Bozeman, Montana, for a street right-of-way at no cost to the City was presented. Following a discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the Quit Claim Deed for the twenty foot wide strip of land at no cost to the City be accepted as presented and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. I Resolution No. 1552 - Fixing Date, Rate & Maturity, SID No. 511 Bonds: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FIXING THE DATE, MATURITY DATE AND THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF BONDS TO BE ISSUED IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 5ll. 346 It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that Commission Resolution No. 1552 be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No Vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. I I I License Bond - Tucker Electric. $5,000.00: In compliance with Chapter 15 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the electrical bond of Tucker Electric in the amount of $5,000.00 was presented. The City Manager stated the Building Inspector had recommended approval of the above mentioned bond and the Acting City Attorney had approved the bond as to form. It was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the bond be appn>ved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Comm- issioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Cashier's Report: The City Manager commented on the Report of the Cashier and it was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the Cashiers report be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Authority to Call for Bids - 50,000 lbs. Sodium Silicofluoride: The Water Department has a need to replenish its supply of sodium silicofluoride for use as an additive to the City's water supply and the City Manager requested that the purchase of 50,000 lbs. be authorized. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the purdase as requested be authorized and the Clerk of the Commission be directed to issue a "Call for Bids" for the purchase of 50,000 lbs. sodium silicofluoride to be opened 6 December 1972 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer. that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow, those voting No, none.
